A friend from church is in very bad shape. I know he has been fighting cancer--he had prostate cancer before, and was rediagnosed with cancer this spring, although I don't know where exactly. I don't like to ask for details unless they are volunteered.
We knew he was on chemo (he is very involved with the youth so they pray for him at Sunday school) but for some reason he was admitted to the hospital for emergency surgery last night and is in critical condition.
They had a prayer service for him at church at 1PM but I went back to work today and am just finding all of this out.
He is only about 45, 46 years old. He has 8 children, one in college, one starting next week, and 6 more ranging from grade 2 to grade 11. The oldest and youngest are girls; the middle 6 are boys. Debbie only works part time. They are one of those families that just reflect God in everything they do, even the boys in HS are role models for the other youth. Such a wonderful family. So if you can spare some prayers for Brad, I would appreciate it very much.

found out more details...his cancer was improving but he started declining and they found he had an infection in his colon--the surgery was to remove some or all of it--and during the surgery he went into cardiac arrest. They put him in a drug induced coma but have had trouble with the heart and later in the day with kidney function, and as of an hour ago they had called the kids in to say goodbye. I am still hoping for a miracle but this one is tough.

:( I have said a prayer for Brad and his family that God will be with them through this and take care of them - no matter what happens.

Far too many cancers horror stories lately.:(

Prayers for this family and friends.

**UPDATE***
Unfortunately Brad didn't make it. They turned off life support last night as his heart kept having problems and his kidneys stopped functioning. He had said he didn't want to be kept alive on machines. He was 46.
I wish you could all know this wonderful family. They are all so nice and you can just tell that God is the center of their lives. I can't stop thinking about poor Debbie being left with 8 children. I am sure that after his first bout with cancer a few years ago they made suitable arrangements, but that doesn't help the hole that will be in the lives of Debbie and these children. He was also active with the local baseball/softball group and other local organizations. He coached at least one team over the years for each of his children who played sports.
I heard the church yesterday, at 1PM on a Friday, was just packed with people praying for this miracle that didn't end up happening. I just saw Debbie and the oldest girl (20) at the VBS picnic a week ago yesterday, with the younger 2 who were in VBS.
Please say a prayer for this family.

How sad, Robin. What a loss for that wonderful family. My prayers go out to them for God's peace and the strength they will all need in the coming days.
