Prayers for Parkersburg

Please pray for the family of Ed Thomas and the communities of Parkersburg & Aplington, Iowa. A very well respected Christian, coach, community leader, & family man was tragically killed today when a former student/athlete shot him. Although I didn't know him personally, I have friends in that community (that was also hit by an F5 tornado on May 25, 2008) and they can certainly use all the thoughts & prayers they can get.

he everyone..im a new listener about a month in and im so glad i found the show. they make me laugh and theres great info. heres a question..dont know if this has been spoken about but we are going in oct and were staying in a friends timeshare( marriot cypress)this wil be our second trip staying there..its a 2bedroom/ 2bath suite with full kitchen. for 6 of us u cant beat the price at $400 for the week HOWEVER my question is..is it really worth staying at disneys deluxe resorts?? does it really make the experience a whole lot better?? we ate at boma last time and fell in love with animal kingdom but in order for us to stay there we'd probably have to save up for like 2 years..is it worth it? is there another resort anyone recommends? thanks...

This is a very, very sad happening. I'm not sure if you guys remember the tornado from last year, but it ruined much of this town, including a lot of the high school and football field. Coach Thomas was very instrumental in rallying his team, students, and prior teams to come and rebuild the football field so it was ready by the time football season started. Because of his efforts, the football field was named after him. His story is one of those that could be made into a Disney movie. It is very sad that it has ended so tragically. We live only a couple hours from this town, but I did not know him personally. My cousins lived in Parkersburg, though, and my cousin played for Coach Thomas. He did great things with his football team, and I know that my cousin achieved great things while playing for Coach Thomas.

It is very, very sad.

I hope the 30 or so students who witnessed this tragedy are able to cope with this. I know they have a lot of support.
