Let me start off by saying that come the end of the month, Mom will be coming home for good :woohoo: :woohoo: She has been in Rehabilitation since Nov 16th, but THEY ended her physical therapy on Dec 29th stating she had reached a "plateau." At that time, she became private pay and I have been battling with her long-term care insurance to get them to start paying for the $15,000 that Dad has already shelled out  She is still going to require a lot of help once she gets home, but at least her long term care will pay up to $2,500 a month for people to come out and help.

Prayers are needed for Dad, as he goes in for heart surgery tomorrow morning at 8:30. Hopefully, it will just be for placement of stints in 2 blocked arteries, but we will not know the full scope until the Dr. gets him into the Cath Lab. Dad also has an aortic aneurysm in his abdomen which may require additional surgery, and this will affect what type of stints are used, because he has to be on a blood thinner for 1 year and the medication could cause the aneurysm to rupture or something :confused3

Just ask that you keep Dad in your thoughts and prayers tomorrow and know that all the previous prayers, good wishes, thoughts and pixiedust: have worked miracles on Mom :goodvibes

 and

Aww.. Lyn... great news about your mom coming home! I know there's a long road ahead of you, but it's a start! :)

But wow, now your dad... I will definitely be praying for his surgery tomorrow morning. Keep us informed!

BIG HUGS, girl!

Great news about Mom, and I'm sending your Dad some pixie dust!

Everything went *FANTASTIC* during Dad's surgery :woohoo: :woohoo: The Dr. had to put in 2 stints, the medicated type, above and below where the old ones were placed 9 years ago. The artery above the previous stint was blocked 90% and then 70% blocked below the second stint :scared1: Guess that explains why he was getting so out of breath doing minor activities.

When they brought him back to the recovery area he was awake and the Dr. went over everything with us both, gave us a diagram of where the blockages were, and gave us a medical identification card that states what type of stints were used and their location.

He still has an IV in the groin area that was used to do the Angioplasty and they are giving him Heparin, a blood thinner. As soon as that is finished and all bleeding is under control, they are going to get him something to eat while we wait for a bed to open up in the Cardiac Care Unit. If everything continues to go so well, they will discharge him home tomorrow :thumbsup2

We thank you *ALL* for your thoughts, prayers and pixiedust: and I will let you know when Mom actually steps inside her home for good :yay: :yay:

 and
