Dear MIL (78) was just diagnosed this past week. She is the salt of the earth and a true child of God.

HOGFAN,

That is what my DM had. She was diagnosed in the summer of 2000. At that time the doctor in our town didn't give her but a couple of years, with treatment. I decided to get a 2nd opinion at Cleveland Clinic. There, they ran more tests on her. It is important to find out what stage she is in because just because she has MM, does not mean she should start chemo yet.
Mom did pass away Dec. 6th, 2006. I will remember your DMIL in my prayers!

I will most certainly pray for you and your family.

My mother passed away 2 years ago at age 57 from this horrible disease. The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in Little Rock is the best place in the world to go to aggresively treat Multiple Myeloma. The have a Myeloma Clinic. We live in Florida, but my mother drove back and forth to Little Rock for treatment the last 3 years of her life. She and my dad met other patients (including Roy Scheider from Jaws) that come from all over the world to be treated there.

I will pray that you and your family are able to find the best treatment for her and that she is able to connect with other patients who have been through this that can offer her advice.

MIL went to specialist today who told her that the other doctor misinterpreted the test results!!!!! Her leukemia, that we have known about for 3 years, skewed the results.
