Please keep Marjorie (5) MommytoMJM's daughter in your prayers and send some pixie dust her way. She was admitted tonight to Arnold Palmer Children's Hospital after more than 40 hours of vomiting. She has a blood sugar of 46 and they are trying to find a sugar they can give her by IV as she is tube fed and of course not keeping anything down. She is allergic to corn and corn products with poses a big problem. Dextrose solutions are made with corn syrup :( She had been in the ER twice yesterday for the same thing.

How scarey. Prayer & good thought to MJM & family.

Please add my prayers for her and her family. If pixie dust can truly heal, here's a heaping helping: pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust:

No child should ever hurt or be sick!!!!!

Sending positive thoughts for Marjorie and her family! :goodvibes

Update on MJ. She is still in the emergency room as they can't find an empty bed for her but the doctors at Arnold Palmer are now in charge of her care not the ER. They are trying to stabilize her blood sugar by giving her dextrose (which is made with corn which she is allergic to) along with meds to counteract the allergic reaction from it. The sugar had gone up to the nineties but dropped again to the 60's. The docs need to find why this is happening. I hope it isn't the start of diabetes. She has enough problems already.

Prayers going out to MJM and her family........

I wonder why a sugar solution couldn't be made from beet sugar?

agnes!

Diabetes would cause high blood sugar, not low. So diabetes is likely not the culprit--unless she's already being treated for diabetes and took too much insulin, for example.

I hope she's better soon. :wizard:

Actually low blood sugar can be forerunner of diabetes. The other thing is that because she hadn't been able to eat for more than 2 days that her liver isn't producing enough glucogen to bring her sugar up fast enough.
