Unfortunately, Jen doesn't have a passport. She's been talking for months now about getting one for in case anything happened to DBIL in Iraq that she could fly over to be with DSIS. But for now, we're helpless. And her parents aren't in the best health either and would not be able to make the trip. So we're having to do everything right now by phone.

But we're hoping that when we can actually talk to DBIL, that maybe he knows of other military families in the area who can help take care of the kids until he can get back.

It's just frustrating to sit and wait.

How about DBIL's Parents?? Could they go over, or have the kids brought back to the US, I'm sure they would be scared, not knowing what's going on with their Mom, but between you, Jen and DBIL's parents the kids would be loved and cared for, till Mom & Dad can take over again.

I just can't even imagine what you must be going through. That would be scary enough ere, let alone adding in the language barrier of a foreign country.

We would be willing to have the kids stay here with us for however long they needed to, but we'd have to get them here. So when we talk to DBIL, we'll take it from there. That will definitely be offered as an option if he can get them here.

I just saw the update!!!
That's good news! I'm glad your BIL called and he knows what's going on. (or as much as he can from Germany to Iraq to the USA), but knowing which hospital she is in, and the fact that he can call friends on base to help is huge.
I'm praying that you all continue to get more and more info, and that your DSIL will be able to recover completely.
