I didn't post a report earlier as I posted a live thread, but since there a not a whole lot of reports for the West Coast
, I decided to post what I can remember.
We drove to the port. We live 15mins north of DL and it took us about 35mins with no traffic. Left our car in the lot there. $88 for the week.
Meeting all the Disers the first day in the Promenade lounge was one of the best times on the ship. Also we had a cabin tour on Monday afternoon where we ran around to everyone's room to compare them. That was real fun! We passed Disers all week long and it was great to hear what everyone was doing.
Embarkation was fast and easy and debarkation was too.
It seems like all we did was eat and nap most of the time! We went to the main shows and regular rotation dinners. All the menus were great and all the food was great! The best thing we did was go to the Behind the Scenes with Stacia Martin (DL
artist) She was also our tablemate. What an interesting lady. She also drew us pictures before we left. The time changes forward killed us. Lost a lot of sleep those two nights, but putting the time back at the end was great. You'll have four times to change your clock.
We did Palo brunch and Tea. Both were great.
In Matzatlan we did the walking tour. Lots of old buildings, museum, opera house, cliff divers, old houses, church, bakery, and a shopping stop in the mercado. Some parts were kinda boring and small kids wouldn't really like it. We were going to go to a resort later to use the pool, but it was real cool and overcast so we just went back to the ship instead. Had Topsiders mexican buffet for lunch which was a joke because it had no mexican food on it except for spanish rice!
I wanted real stuff like burritos, tacos, and beans and enchiladas! None of that.
In PV we did the City tour and really liked it. A nice bus ride, stop at a jewelry store w/a free margarita or drink, sovenier stop, restaurant stop(finally got our real mexican food), good tour guide. After that my DS went back to the ship to sleep and me and DH walked to the Krystal and used the pool and had a few pina Coladas.
Met a DCL CM there in the bathroom who was one of the entertainers on the ship. Stopped at the flea market on the way back to the ship to by a few things, but they all hound you and try to pull you into their shops.
In Cabo we did the harbor cruise and Scenic drive and really liked it too. Nice 40 minute harbor cruise, saw sea lions, pelicans, beach resorts along the shore and had a free drink. Then they change you to a bus for the drive thru the city to a restaurant overlooking the harbor (Giorgios) and you get great pictures of the Magic from there. (another free drink and bathroom stop) About 45mins here. Then the bus drops anyone that wants off at Cabo Wabo and you can walk the shopping area from there. Lots of stores, a mall....we walked the marina and over to the beach by the Melia resort and ate lunch at The Office on the beach.(tables in the sand, more real mexican food!). About a 25min walk. It would be better to take a taxi or water taxi. We took the water taxi back. $10 for the 3 of us. Lunch was excellent! $700 pesos for the 3 of us!
Back to the ship for another nap! Booked another cruise on board so we can try some of the other things on board. We had late dinner, so we got done about 10:15 everynight and then were too tired to do anything else. Checked email at the Internet Cafe and usually went to bed after that. Internet was down one night.
Did the character breakfast, but other than Disembarking morning, I sent DH up to Topsiders to bring back coffee, choc milk, choc pastries, scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage and Krispy Kremes to eat while we got ready for the day and DS to wake up. On excursion mornings we just put the sign outside for room service the night before and had coffee, toast, and cereal in the morning real quick.
All the shows are real good! Brought tears to my eyes a few times.
Everyone was real friendly. Our room host was great and so were all our dining room servers.
Last note: I really thought I knew where everything was located on the ship by reading the Passporter and this board, but when you are on board and talking the stairs all the time and they keep turning around, you never know which way you are going!
I thought this was so funny! We had to follow the anchors on the carpet in the halls and read the signs all the time.
Oh yeah...I also did 4 loads of laundry on board and recommend that if you put something in the washer don't just leave after you put them in. Wait about 5-10mins to make sure it takes! 3 washers stopped after people left. I only found this out when I went to get another load from my room and came back to find my washer stopped. One guy came back 40 mins later and his hadn't even washed yet. If you don't bring you own soap, figure $3 a load to do laundry. Change machine was broken, but I brought a roll of quarters from home.
Well, can't think of anything else. If you have any questions I'll try to help. I'm sure once I get my next 2007 date planned I'll need all your help to plan that one!
