PPH- first onsite stay ???

So with a month to go we just changed our hotel and booked two rooms at the PPH. Sooooo excited for our first onsite stay. A couple of questions for you. We just booked a standard room, but is there a specific area or view we should request? Do these rooms have microwaves? I am also wondering how you would go about asking for a possible upgrade at check-in? We are so thrilled to be staying onsite that we are fine with any room but it doesn't hurt to ask right. I would love to hear anything about this hotel (or staying onsite in general) that will make our stay even more magical. So excited for this trip!!!

I have only ever stayed in the concierge rooms at the PPH and those ones did not have microwaves. There is a cafe style restaurant in the lobby and they have toasters and a microwave that anyone can use.

The best advice for staying at the PPH is to NOT follow the signs when you're walking to DL or DCA. You want to cross the street and enter the GCH's front door and use their entrances to DCA and DTD to get to the parks. Much, much shorter walk and that way you also get to enjoy the GCH lobby which IMO is the best part of that hotel.

The rooms have a small refrigerator but no microwave. I really like the PPH - I prefer it over the DL Hotel. The only thing I don't like is the elevators - they are insufficient for the number of guests, and if you are coming/going at busy times of day you can wait awhile to get on one.
