PP or GCH

Planning DD first trip to Disneyland in honor of her 6th birthday. Planning to go week after Thanksgiving during the week so hopefully it's not too crowded and won't have long waits. Should I pick Paradise Pier or splurge on Grand Californian? I don't think she will mind - but I am picky about hotel beds. Which is most comfortable? Thanks in advance for any info/opinions.

They are the same beds as far as I am aware, we stayed at both PP and GCH (The DVC Villas). If you want to be closer to DCA, I would definitely recommend GCH. PP is nice if you want something a little quieter, to be honest when we stayed at GCH we enjoyed the room so much, we pretty much just stayed there and never went into the parks once. Please note though that we live nearby and were simply using points from our inital use year before they expired.

I LOVE GCH, even before I was a DVC member, and it's a tad bit closer to the parks. Also, you have a special entrance to DCA.

The special entrance to DCA can be used by all guests of the three Disney hotels. I am going to put in vote in for PP. We have little ones and they loved PP. My kids don't get what makes GCH great. They don't care about luxury or craftsmanship. They did however love the movie room and game room in PP. The rooms are also bigger and the beds awsome at pp and it’s a brighter hotel. The kids also loved the goofy in the lobby.

To us it all boils down to proximity (GCH) vs. room size (PPH). You might also want to consider the concierge at PPH, which gives you access to the lounge. While we love the GCH, having access to the lounge at PPH was convenient and surprisingly affordable (w/ a good AP rate). Kids loved the snacks, the chocolate dipped strawberries (YUM!), and the Mickey shaped rice krispy treats.
