I thought that is what all commercials do? A loose interpretation? Exact in my book. He was abandoned by his father, raised by his mother and became the first African American president. The potential of one human life.

I'll explain why I think it's loose.

His parents were married. Yes his father left, but his mother was hardly poor. He lived with his mother in Indonesia while she was working there. His mother was also married there and had a second child.

I don't know why he went to live in Hawaii with his grandparents, but again, he did. He wasn't exactly poor there either - he attended the best prep school in the state.

As well, abortion wasn't even legal when he was born.

The commerical is bending the truth to suit it's agenda and IMHO, exploiting Obama.

The commercial never said he was poor. They could have also said that he was raised by his grandparents. They don't make a case as to whether abortion was legal or illegal or whether is should be now. They made a case about the potential of one human life. Are they exploiting Obama? Exploitation is not always a bad thing. It makes a good and positive point.

Listen to the link again. They said his mother had no money to raise him, or something to that effect.

IMHO, exploitation is exploitation. This is no different than exploiting Obama's daughters to sell Beanie Babies.

Here, they're just using a loose interpretation of Obama's life to sell their particular agenda.

I believe the wording was that she was a single mother who struggled. But she did re-marry. Barack went back to Hawaii to attend that school.

It's a commercial that, like all commercials, is selling something. In this case, using a common logical fallacy that one comes across often in the pro-life/pro-choice debates.
