power strips

And this is exactly the sort of thing that made me decide to end my Amazon prime membership this year. You can choose to trust a third-party seller on Amazon or trust what DCL itself says. I choose the latter.
I use one all the time.... on DCL. It can't have a cord or surge protection.

And I’ve read dozens of social posts in a DCL group I belong too reporting DCL confiscated exactly these types of wall hubs because of the three pronged outlets—concern is that people will plug in too much and overload the system. It is hit or miss—DCL doesn’t always catch it.

But one thing is clear these are not “approved” by the cruise line.

What is the rule on power strips on ships?
According to the DCL website, they are prohibited:
the following items are restricted for safety reasons and should not be brought on board.
  • Extension cords, power strips and surge protectors

It's also on Cruise Critic. Other DCL cruisers and other cruise line blogs have posted they use them. As I've said I have had no issue since it has no cord and is not a surge protector.
You have been lucky. The stated rule is that they prohibit anything that has a regular electrical outlet on it.

Based on @PrincessShmoo's post, that's not the stated rule. Rather,

the following items are restricted for safety reasons and should not be brought on board.
  • Extension cords, power strips and surge protectors
