We are thinking of purchasing Power Passes this year and trying to get two trips out of them. We always travel in August. I have a couple of questions that I was curious if anyone could answer.

1. Are the black out dates pretty standard? This year only the first two weeks in August are blacked out, which works for us. Do they black out later in August?
2. If we purchase it and use it for the first time on August 18 this year is the last day we can use it August 17, 2015?

Thanks for any advice!

1. Blackout dates change every year depending on whether a new attraction opens and/or crowd concerns. The dates were blacked out this year at the Studios because of Diagon Alley. They won't change the dates again for August of this year.

2. Your pass clock begins on the date of activation so if you activate it on August 18th, it will be good until that date next year.

You might consider buying one Preferred AP for the discounts and free parking after the first visit.

Thanks for the help. We usually get the three day park to park ticket. We were thinking of trying to work out the dates to get two trips out of the other pass because we always travel during the end of August.

We usually stay at the HRH so I don't think we would need the free parking, but who knows we might stay elsewhere some time. I doubt we would be able to give up Express pass though!

True but you can always take advantage of the passholder discounts for food and merchandise with the Preferred...Power Passes don't offer any discounts except for hotel rates.

They must do things differently now than they use to because 3 years ago my husband and I bought AP's online and had them mailed to our house and they already were printed with our name and the expiration date of one year from the date of purchase printed on the back. They didn't activate ours. Maybe they send you a voucher now and you have to pick the actual pass up at the gate?
