Hello,

Stopping here to ask a question. I have good friends, husband and wife, in their early 70's, from our church. The lady has MS. Currently she uses a regular wheel chair while out, her husband generally the pusher, and a walker around the house. Her MS continues to get worse and using the walker is getting really tough at home. Their home has been built, by prior owners, with a number of room addition addons over the years. Each addon has a small step to go up or down on.

Today, they sent me an email, asking if I could find the following:

would you please help us find a small power chair for Karen that climbs small steps, at a low cost? New or used is OK. This seems to become more important & seriously needed every new day/night for Karen.

I immediately thought of everybody here that might know something on this. Any ideas?

A lot depends on the size of the small steps. If they are 3 inches or less, there are many options.
If they are bigger then 3 inches, they will need to look into ramps.

Her physicians who are caring for her MS should make a referral for a seating evaluation. It could be with OT, PT and a seating company specialist would also be invite. They would be able to look at her needs present and future and come up with a recommendation.

AgaIn, thanks for your suggestions, Sue. I passed them on to my friends and they also thank you.
