Pound woes

It'll keep going down until there are some decent polls in. The traders need some decent data to work things out.

Well it is just outrageous, I just did a quick calculation and my Boardwalk Joe Margarita back in 2014 was only (due to 1.63 rate) £6.25 at today rate it would by £7.33.

So now even more amendment that they need to sort this out right now!! :rotfl:

Having not gone since 2009 exchange rate issues were a shock to me when planning my 2017 trip. We got 1.40 euros to the pound when we went to Malta last year so the same in dollars is a kick in the teeth really. Hopefully it rebounds after the vote. If it stays at 1.40-50 I might have to rethink depending on the euro rate. The parks aren't cheap as is, without good rates it's hard to justify on a modest wage really.

We too remember the $2 rate. It was marvellous, that and staying offsite were the only reasons we could afford to go. 2009 was a push with the naff rates so hopefully it doesn't drop any more than it was then!

I'm not panicking yet but we have a cruise to pay for that is due in July so I'm hoping we have some stability by then as its after the referendum.

I had two cruise balances to pay by April, we decided to pay them off when the rate first fell to 1.50 before Christmas but what with everything else to do in the run up to Christmas I forgot all about it :scared1: was my name mud! So I decided anything over 1.45 would be good, kept checking and managed to get them paid off a couple of weeks ago at almost 1.47 so not as painful as it could have been.

Got to admit, this is one of the nice things about going to Canada this summer. I booked our Vancouver hotel the other night and got my credit card statement yesterday - 2.075 CAD to the £ :dogdance:
:thumbsup2

Well some slightly better news it has gone back up ever so slightly over the last two days now at $1.40 (Bank Rate). :yay::yay::yay::yay:

we can only hope (and keep fingers crossed) it doesn't go too crazy  until all this referendum stuff is sorted out!!!

I just looked and bank rate is now $1.3875 :scared1: Was planning on biting the bullet this weekend and getting some dollars but might hold off...

Not good. I try to remember we've had the good $2/£1 days so now is the bad. Good job we like cheap and cheerful eating :)

We go May so anticipate rate will still be dire pre vote.

Less than 4 weeks to for us. Can't see much recovery before then. I have got lots of dollars in the safe I was saving for a rainy day, I think this might be the trip to use some of them.
I have bought some restaurant.com vouchers which will give us a few meals around half price. Meeting up with my Brother for 9 nights while out there so we will spend more on drink than food :)

I've got to pay in dollars for our summer trip but only when we arrive. Fortunately I've used our DVC points for the Disneyland Hotel. I've normally bought our passes in Anaheim but may buy them here if the dollar stays as it is. I've also got Sugar Loaf to pay for so am hoping for a better rate.

Ramsdens was £1.3660 today :(, I'm not going for another 10 weeks, but, I can't see it getting much better. I've also got a December trip booked, so hoping things will be better then.

Which restaurant.com did you go for.

I've got an O'Charleys and crossroads house of blues not used from October. Think you have been to O'Charleys would you recommend?

Crossroads been twice, 1st time with voucher we really enjoyed, 2nd time on dining plan had a bad meal and bad service.
O'Charleys been 3 times all with vouchers, all great meals. The last time we struggled to get over the $50 min spend, so full after that meal.

Our next trip is Chattanooga, Nashville, Tupelo, New Orleans, Savannah & Charleston vouchers are for these 2 restaurants:

We are going in 5 weeks. So thankful all is paid for and we have free dining plus the $200 gift card. We shouldn't spend much extra (it's QSD so no tips to worry about). I think is about the worst I've seen the rate in 26 years of trips!

We have been to O'Charleys twice now - great meals and service both times. I have been keeping an eye out for a restaurant.com voucher for this next trip but no luck - they well out so quick. Going to keep trying every day for the next 3 weeks ;)

Ok so this might actually change the way were going to do our trip this year.

I booked beach club for 2wks in late September before the free dining and free 200 gift card was up, knowing that I'd probably lesson it to a 10 days to a wk, at Disney and a wk offsite at cabana bay. As it was supposed to be a budget trip!

When then decided actually we wouldn't stay onsite at all, and we would stay at cabbana bay for 2wks or at least half of it, and another cheaper place with 2 days at Rpr for FOL.
And we would do all the offsite restaurants we have wanted to do for a while now, ( but we don't due to having free dining which we love) and we would do all the Orlando parks we had not done yet. Plus 4 days at Disney as we already have 2day Base tickets and it would cost much more to change that to 4 day and add water park option.

However.....with the exchange rate, I'm now thinking onsite with the free dining as all food is covered.
Plus the cabana bay and offsite hotels will be paid in dollars making the trip bk to being expensive.
Argh'!!!!!

Yes I managed to snag one last year usually out of stock. Will give it a try with 2 thumbs up from you and Wayne. I know where it is been to the Michaels next door, will be handy with us at Universal.

All prepaid isvery tempting. We have always prepaid Cabana in £ in advance. I'm still finding netflights cheaper than staymoresavemore rate I can get with Universal direct for our dates.
