My DD 2.8 months has begun to take her diaper off and play with what is inside! There are some things I did not sign up for as a mother I am hoping that if I get her trained she might stop thinking poop is a toy! Can you please share your best tips for potty training with me... please!!!!!!!!!!

We had trouble with our DD because she didn't mind having a dirty diaper. She would run away from us if we tried to change her! She would prefer to have pants full of poo than have her diaper changed. We had the most success getting her to go potty in the toilet by getting rid of the diapers and training pants during the day. She wore regular, "big girl" underwear. Now, she already knew how to use the potty at this point...she just opted not to...she'd rather play or watch TV than get up and use the bathroom. Once it wasn't so convenient for her to have the disposal stuck to her backside, she learned to get up and go. My SIL actually had to have my nephew go naked until he learned because he would just go whenever and wherever he felt like it. It was messy for a few days, but he quickly caught on.

I would suggest that when she poops in her pants, you take the poopy panties to the bathroom with her and show her that the poop goes in the toilet and let her flush it "bye-bye". When my DD pooped her pants (on purpose) she was forced to clean it up and then she had to get in the cold bath water and clean herself up! That didn't last too long....One day, I asked her, "WHY did you poop your pants?" She was already walking towards the bathroom and said, "Because I want to take a cold tubby!"
So much for that bright idea!

Keep at it...you'll eventually find a method that works! Don't make a huge deal out of it. It's just poop...wait til she eats her boogers!

I too am a firm believer in taking away the diaper and putting them right into big girl underwear. One "accident" and she realized she didn't like the mess running down her leg. We didn't have any problems, we just had to make sure to take her to the potty often (every 30minutes) and let her try to do her business. After a week or two she was completely potty trained. the biggest problem is that she paints with it! This week alone I have cleaned her room 3 times. She puts in on her walls, door, desk, books, toys, and today it was on the tv and carpet! I now have her in pjs that have no feet and zipper I put them on backwards in the hope that she will not figure out how to get out of them. She does this when she is suposed to be napping. I thought about putting her back in a crib but she just covered the crib with it!!!

Have you talked to her about how sick poopy germs can make people? Anything she touches with poopy could make someone sick if they touch it? How she could get very sick by having poopy on her hands?

How about grounding? I know that seems harsh, but my DD learned VERY quickly that if she wrote on the walls she would not get crayons, pencils, markers, etc. again for a couple of days. Maybe each time your DD does the poopy playing, then you take away a favorite toy for a day? She is old enough for consequences.

I tell her every time I change her that poop is gross that we should not touch it or play with it. I tell her it is garbage and that it goes in the garbage not anywhere else.
I have tried taking toys away, her fav toy in her room his her WDW castle I took that away for a week and she did not care at all. Its going away again since it is covered in poop now! I think I will start using duct tape now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have had this same problem

The whole taking off the diaper or pull-up or underwear full of poop was a few months ago. He finally stopped taking them off-but he's not potty trained. We have tried EVERYTHING!!!! I finally asked the doctor what to do. He said just to keep on doing what we are doing and he'll get it. AAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!!!!1

My other two wern't this hard. That whole saying, "Don't worry. He'll be potty trained by Kindergarden." well, I think I can prove it wrong. Surely not, right?
