Potty breaks while in line

Come on.
I think we can agree that a teen and a small child are not equivalent in this scenario.

Teen could have a medical condition that causes them to have to use the bathroom suddenly. In fact, I would say the teen has a better "excuse" then the young child.

It really just needs to be one way for everyone. You can't just pick and choose because you don't know everything about everybody.

Fair enough. To be honest, I have a hard time finding a scenario that I WOULDN'T allow someone to pass me. When someone mentioned teens I admit the first thought that crossed my mind was a GROUP of teens that were clearly causing trouble. That was my mistake, and I was wrong.

I will put it this way. I have a medical condition myself that causes me to sometimes have to use the restroom way more often then the normal person. Sometimes, this need can be sudden. As in, one minute I am fine and a few moments later I am in agony. However, I would never expect to have my place in line saved when these things happen. If I had to leave the line... well, too bad for me. When I return I will just get back IN line.

Then again, I will never wait more then 30 minutes in line so it rarely is a problem. A good touring plan and use of FP+ does more then enough to minimize these things happening.

Isn't this why there are CMs? To aid guests in situations like this? That way your return to the line is "approved" and there's no need to push through. A quick question to the entrance CM can help if you're really concerned. Even if there's no back entrance bathroom, they might let you back in the FP lane.

I'm thinking of Space Mountain - how would you rejoin that line? It splits off, it's dark.

I've definitely encountered people who claimed to be rejoining family and were quite happy to have jumped the line. I'm just not a fan of others who game the system at the expense of others.

I brought up teens, and I was referring to groups of teens (I have nothing against teenagers - have 3 of my own). However, even if it's a group of teens, I will let them pass, and give them the benefit of the doubt. I can't imagine blocking a woman and her 5 year old child! :confused3

Why is it anyone else's problem if one of my 3 (or me) has to use the restroom. If you think it's a problem use the toilet before. I mean how many accidents are children having?
If one of my family had to go we either all left the line or the members who didn't stayed and we met them at the exit.
A line is a line!

We had used a FP to get on Soarin'...we got all the way up to standing by the doorway, and my 5 year old had to go pee. I think he was just nervous about riding, but I wasn't going to chance it, so I asked the CM how to get to a bathroom. The CM told me to speak to the people at the desk after we got done with the bathroom. The person at the desk gave me a FP. Now, this was not as good as being about to go on the ride, but we didn't have to wait so long and we didn't have to push past people.

If the situation happened again, I would try to get the attention of a CM. They might have a solution (like going through FP on your way back).

(OP here). The problem is that sometimes my barely five year old pees and then 30-40 minutes later has to pee again, especially if he drank a lot of water, which is feasible in the Florida heat. I could be in an 40-60 minute line and he could have to go again.

If it's inconvenient, I would ask if he can wait, but sometimes he can't. He's not twelve, he's five. I certainly would not insist he hold it because that's an unhealthy habit and I don't want him to risk an accident, which is embarrassing for him. It's not his fault if he already went before we got in line.

I completely appreciate what you all are saying about line jumpers (hadn't considered that) and some of the lines being narrow, etc. I can see it being less of an issue at some lines (like Monsters Inc off the top of my head), and almost impossible in others.

So, we'll do our best. It would obviously suck to wait in line for 40-60 minutes and then have to start over, but maybe we'd be close enough to the front at that point that we could ask a CM.

Or he'll just pee in a dark corner (kidding). ;)

I totally agree. Holding it can lead to health problems as well as embarrassment for you/child and a mess for some poor CM to clean up!

Aside from going before a long line...seriously just avoid attractions with waits that long. Go at rope drop and then plan FP+ accordingly. I can't think of ANY ride at Disney that I would wait 60 minutes with my 5 year old...just not worth it. (And we have gone over 4th of July, so it is not a low crowd time)

OP, I hear you. I'm 38 and have a frequent urination issue since I had kids....I can go and literally 10 minutes later have to go again, bad. :( I actually just got some of the homeopathic, bladder incontinence stuff today to try and get this under control before our trip. I know, TMI...my kids laugh at how often I have to go.

So I would never expect a child to hold it either. If I were behind you in line I would totally hold your spot, and I myself would ask a guest behind me to hold our spot in that situation IF it was the type of line I could get back in without having to squeeze by a million people. All lines are set up differently you know? Some are easier than others to get back to the front...but I wouldn't want to go through the hassle of trying to get by a ton of PO'ed people
