Potential Magic Band Issue... Anyone Else Had This Issue?

Okay. So I am going to Disney at the end of May, with my friend and her mom. I live in St. Louis and will be flying in, my friend and her mom live in Alabama and will be driving in.

Because I'm flying and will need the magic bands for Disney Magical Express, we decided it would be best to send the magic bands to my address.

Here's the potential problem. While the address listed for the Magic Bands is indeed my address, the NAME keeps changing to my friend's mom's, as she is the "primary" contact, if you will, for the trip. We're going through another friend of mine who works with Mouse Tails Travel. We (both our "travel agent" and I) have changed the name to mine multiple times, but it keeps getting changed back, and none of us are (knowingly) changing it. I think it must have to do with the fact that I'm not the primary contact on this trip, so it keeps changing it back to the primary?? I don't want them to get returned by USPS because the name doesn't match the address. Has anyone else had this issue? How did you deal with and and how did it work out?

You do NOT need MBs for DME.
No worries.

If you don't get a MB before your trip, you can get one at check-in.

You don't actually need the Magic Bands to get onto Magical Express. I'm from Canada and can't pick up my bands until I get to the resort. I arrange with Magical Express ahead of time and show up at the Counter in the basement and they send me on my way on the bus. I think Magical Express sends me a coupon type ticket for the ride but I could be mistaken. Others have reported just showing up in the basement and showing them your resort reservation and being able to get on the bus.

Get the bands sent to your friends mom and get yours at Disney when you see them.

I have been successful in changing my address and shipping the bands but I have never had to change the name. Can you send them to her but c/o you at your address?
Otherwise just have them shipped to her and get them when you arrive or have them held at the front desk.

You don't need your MB for DME, you can just use the voucher (have her mail/email/fax it to you) for DME or stop at the desk to check in if you don't have the voucher or the MB it only takes about 2 extra minutes.

Okay. So the luggage tags are sent separately from the MBs and should be sent directly to me, correct?? The "c/o" idea just might work. I'll have to see if I can add that in. Hmm...

To get luggage tags sent directly to you, for SURE...

Call Disney's Magical Express Guest Services at (866) 599-0951 and give them your info, directly.

They have always been extremely nice and very helpful to me.

Well, I know that our trip planner scheduled the DME specific for me, since I'm the only one flying and using it. So I would think they'd have the correct info.

You could just make a two minute phone call and set your mind at ease.

Yeah, I'll make sure. We did put "c/o [my name]" on the address for the magic bands too. But then again, that's a different mailing, so yeah, I'll check.

I can't imagine why the USPS wouldn't deliver something to your address just because your name isn't on it. I still occasionally get mail for the previous owner of my condo, and I've even gotten mail with the name of some business on it, but my address.

My friend was the primary on our reservation, she lives in Florida and I flew in so we got everything shipped to my house so I could have the luggage tags and magic bands. It was my address and her name, I had no problem receiving any of the mail.

I'm arriving 5/8, my friend is on a later flight. The reservation is in my name, I have the magic bands and the tags. She has magic bands from prior trips but I sent her a copy of the magic express letter with the yellow tag even though she plans to pickup her luggage. I figured if she changes her mind, she has the yellow tag.

I'll give her and my other friend the new magic bands when they get there. My other friend is renting a car.

You could just have the bands sent to your friend's house, and when they receive them, they could take your band out of the box and mail it to you. The bands should arrive a month before check-in, so you'd have time for that.

There's no reason for that extra step in the OP's scenario. The USPS won't not deliver something to the OP's address just because the OP's name isn't on it

All the mailing automatically goes to the primary guest so that person will have to then mail the luggage tags and voucher to you. It doesn't matter who is or isn't flying everything goes to the primary unless you request otherwise (and sometimes if you do!) My sister lives in another state and I just use a business size envelop and 2 stamps.

In your case as mentioned above I would call DME directly to request the package be mailed to you. If this doesn't work just claim your bags at baggage claim and proceed to DME, they will direct you to the full service desk where a voucher will be printed and your on your way.

So in summary your choices are; you can ask your friend to take 5 minutes and $1.00 +/- to mail the DME voucher and tags to you, Take 5 minutes yourself to call DME and request the info be mailed to you, or spend 15/20 extra minutes at baggage claim and DME.

No matter what you will be able to use DME upon arrival :)

I'm from Brazil and I never get my MagicBands before my trip, so I always get on Magical Express using just the printed confirmation of my Disney Hotel reservation.
It's practical and simple. Don't worry about that :)

So they came today! And I checked with my friend who is coordinating everything for us (she works with Mouse Tails Travel... I think I got the name right), and she assures me the Disney Magical Express reservation is in my name with my address. The reason I was worried about the name on the package is I've lived in the same house basically my entire life, and we've had the same mail person for years and years. So I was afraid she might see the wrong name and assume it was misaddressed.

She would be way overthinking things. You could have a friend visiting at any time who might want to get mail.

We actually had this issue in our past trip since DMiL and DFIL were flying in . I knew they didn't need tha MB, but it was their first time and it was going to be easier. When I got the MB I put them in the mail with plenty of time for them to get it. It was $3 to ship 2 MB.
