Potential Dryer Problem....

I purchased a new Samsung washer and dryer in April 2011. Love them...front load set. About a month ago I noticed dryer making lots of noise but still working---finally this past weekend I called and scheduled a service visit. They came today (could have actually been here Wednesday but I worked instead). The guy was great and found that there was excessive lint build up inside the dryer on the motor just on one side throwing it off balance---causing the noise.

I am one who cleans vents out everytime I do :laundy: my laundry. Before we had new ones installed we totally cleaned and replaced everything (disconnected old ones a few days before and moved them the garage).

Does anyone else with front load have the issue---- any suggestions on how to prevent. I figure this is budget because if it had not been under warranty it was $146. Thankfully we now know if this noise comes again what it is and my husband can fix. I don't know if this is something with front load dryers, etc. My old Maytag never had this issue.

Thanks.....

How far is your dryer vent from the dryer. Are there many bends and twists in it? If the distance is too great or it has to go around too many corners before it gets to the outside your dryer might have a problem pushing the air and lint out.

I agree with this- your vent should not exceed 8 feet otherwise the lint will get trapped.

Also, if your dryer vent hose is made of that flexible metal foil you should consider replacing it with rigid 4" tubing instead.

It is less than 8ft...
It is the flexible foil so might have hubby replace with metal....good project for him! Thanks
