POTC2 like it or not

My husband and I just got back from seeing it. I thought it was Awsome and we can't wait for the 3rd. pirate:

We saw it yesterday and the theater was less than half full, which I thought was very strange. It was waaaaay too long though and it didn't hold our attention through much of it. I almost fell asleep - twice. I hope 3 is better. :sad2:

Wow! you fell asleep? I thought the movie was good but I was checking my watch through the movie.
It did not move as fast as the first one.
I may go see it with my Dh and our older son who was at camp until this morning. May being the operative word here...just not sure I want to.

I'm waiting to see how much it makes...

I feel pretty much the same way. It dragged and was only okay for me. I didn't like Jack as much this time around as I did in the first one.

I liked it and I think Johnny Depp and Orlando Bloom were great but it just was not as good as the first one. I felt this one relied too much on the special effects instead of the story. I wanted to see more Will and Elizabeth and more of Jack. I hated the barnacle encrusted crew especially the hammer head guy and Bill Nighy's character. He was better in Love Actually. The whole thing felt choppy. Like there were a lot of scenes left on the editing room floor or something. Did anyone else stay for the scene after the credits? pirate:

Box office estimates are in $55,500,000.00. Largest one day opening. Way to go Disney!!

We just came home from seeing it. WOW!!! It was very different from the first, but a fantastic movie all in all.

My thoughts:

1. Half an hour of trailers and advertisements before the movie began pissed me off.

2. They should have cut out about half an hour of effects and storyline that just went round and round--the 15 minutes of sword fight towards the end for example, after five minutes the point was made.

3. I didn't like Davey Jone's makeup at all, it was too over the top.

4. I got tired of rain. It seemed that it rained during the entire movie.

That said, I did like the movie, and can't wait for the next one.

It was good, not great. I'll certainly buy the DVD and I think I'll get more out of it as I watch more. When the first movie came out, I don't think anyone thought it was going to be as good as it turned out. Expectations are so high for this movie, it almost can't live up to them. I heard the next movie comes in May, so we don't have too long to wait. pirate:

Davy Jones didn't have any "make-up" ... it was all CGI. Bill Nighy wore a green computer mask will computer balls on it so they could do the CGI over it.

How could anyone almost fall asleep?

When it ended the way it did, I had no idea I had been sitting there for 2 1/2 hrs....I was ready for more!!! It added so much more depth and compexity to the characters and story line, especially setting it up for the third installment. Quite genious for a second film in a trilogy to be able to succeed at that.

But everyone is entitled to their opinion.

DH2B and I both LOVED it!!! We're going again in about 2 weeks when the crowd dies down a bit. Can't wait for the 3rd!!!! pirate:

My 2 dd and I went last night and saw the movie. Froggy unfortunately can't watch movies in the theater (dark theater, one eye = bad headaches) so he stayed home and will but it when it comes out of dvd.

WE LOVED IT!! I don't see how anyone could have been bored enough to sleep through this movie or how anyone could say it "draged" It was almost non stop action. And OMG it was so funny a lot more so than the first movie. For a middle of a trilogy it was fantastic in my oppion. I can't wait for the third movie to come out!

Then again everyone is different which is why this world is so interesting.

Hated the ending. How can they keep us hanging like that?

I loved the ending! I really missed Barbossa, I love Geoffrey Rush. I did like the first one better, but I think it was because it was new and different from anything that was out there. I remember dragging my DH to it and him muttering "Why would I want to see a bunch of stupid pirates?" In the first one the action was quick and basically got to the point. This one the action scenes came going on and on and on. I mean that water wheel scene if they actually fought that long there arms would have fallen off. But I still liked it.

I LOVED IT!! We just went this morning (DH, me, and little brother 8). We all liked it.

We almost never go to the theater (we just buy the movies instead), but it was for my (early) birthday.

Johnny Depp can do no wrong. I have loved him 21 Jump Street so it's nice to see him actually get box office success.

They rest of the cast was great too!

I thought it was good but not as good as the first one. My husband had the perfect analogy--I told him I knew the 3rd one would be better because this was all setting up the next one, and he said "it IS 'the Empire Strikes Back'".

So I'm not the only one finding those similarities ;) I just hope there's not a Luke/ Lea thing revealed in the third one. It seemed like it could be a possibility.

Anyway, add me to the LOVE it side. I was quite taken in with the story and special effects. I love pirate lore and was delighted by all the mystical pirate fable!

I loved it, but not as much as the first one. My husband didn't like it at all, but he's not in love with Johnny like my daughter and I are  I can't wait till the third one.

LOVED IT!!! pirate: Going to see it again to pick up on stuff I missed the 1st time! popcorn:: Can't wait for # 3 !!!!!! There were quite a few kids dressed in full pirate gear (complete with long wigs!) Very cute, but not a movie for really little ones.
