Boxofficemojo number are in for Friday the 18th. PotC did 10.4 mil against 17.5 for the opening of BB 2. Peronally, I don't think that's to shabby. So far it seems to have survived T3,LXG and is holding it's own against BB 2. So what say we now,ye nay sayers, has it got legs yet ?

I'm brave enough - I'm saying it has legs. Maybe not the longest in the world, but long enough to be quite successful.

Female voice here... Johnny Depp and Orlando Bloom are hotties... Lots of women will see this movie because they are fans of one or both. Orlando has a huge teenage following since "Lord of the Rings." I think THEIR legs (and faces and other body parts) are helping, even though I speak as an old middle-aged Mommy!

We just got home from the movies, PotC..... It was great! We really enjoyed looking for the attraction parts in the movie.. The guy with the pigs, the pirates with the bone, etc. The theatre hasn't been this packed in quite some time. I think it's gonna' make it.

According to everything I've been hearing, it's a winner.

Best Disney movie I've seen in a long time. Can't wait to own it on DVD too.:D

I'll definitely buy a copy when it hits DVD! We are going to see it again tomorrow. We didn't stay through all of the credits the first time. Annmarie

Went to go see POC this afternoon. First it was one of the better movies I have seen in years, Johnnie Depp was perfect as Sparrow and the women who played Elizabeth was perfectly cast. the thing I was surprised about was the amount of people and different demographics.
I was there with my DD who is 7 and DS who is 5 and around us were an elderly group of about 5, two teenage girls, a middle 20's couple and many couples in there 40's and 50's. Today was a great day weather wise and yet the show was at about 70 percent capacity. this was at 3:30 not usually a big time to go and at this specific theater it was playing every hour.
At the end listening to people talking everyone seemed to really enjoy the show.
To compare I went to see nemo it's third weekend at this same time on a lousy day and it was playing to about 30% in the same theater.
I beleive that disney has found a great movie with endless posiblilities for sequels and that is the name of the game now in movieland. This movie should make around 200mil domestically and then the same between international and video. Making a pretty profit.
I only hope is that Disney doesn't see this as a reason to get into making pg-13 movies on a regular basis.

Legs. Also time to paint the sails black on the "Black Pearl" at POC ride. Excellent movie. After seeing it at AMC opening day at DTD, we were at the MK a number of times. The movie seems to be bringing new interest (and waits) to POC.

I agree with you! IMHO, half the female population between 12 and 60 plans to see this movie just because of Orlando Bloom and there are lots of Johnny Depp fans in that group, also.

Hoping that Disney recognizes that and doesn't just assume that this movie's success bodes well for future endeavors based on theme park attractions.

Its definitely got legs in my opinion. I LOVED IT and have seen it twice already.

Loved the movie saw it twice. But I think that this weekend will be different
because of spy kids 3-D/ I believe spykids will cause all the other movies to plummet :(

You really think so? These movies don't seem to have the same target audience.

yes unfortunately, I have three children. The 3-D is all they and there friends talk about it's what they are waiting for. Many parents are anxious to see it also.

Spy Kids is one of those movies that I just couldn't get into. But you're right, lots of kids (and parents) love it and the 3D thing is going to be a big draw.

I think Pirates will hold it's own though.:D
