Yesterday I watched the 1st Pirates of the Caribbean film to check it was ok for my daughter (7) to watch because it is rated '12'.
I don't think she would cope with it, she would be too scared of the parts showing what happens to the cursed pirates in the moonlight.

Anyway.....
My reason for wanting her to see it is because of the potc ride at DLP.
I know some of the scenes from the ride have been put into the film. Are the scenes I mentioned above in the ride as well because I was going to let her go on it but am now not sure.
She doesn't like any ghost train type rides or watching cartoons where skeletons move (doesn't mind if they stay still).
Just wondered if anyone who's been on the ride can give me any advice?
Thanks

My first ride on PotC was when I was 10 and I absolutely loved it. There are skeletons in it but the ride is not really scary, it`s a slow cruise through a city taken over by funny pirates and their treasure hiding. There are 2 sudden drops in the dark you should be prepared for but everytime I saw small children on the ride they seemed to be enjoying themselfs as the atmosphere of the ride is not made to be scaring. Actually I would think Pinocchio and Snowwhite have more scary moments in them but that`s just my impression. pirate:

We took our daughter on the PoTC ride back in March this year & she absolutely loved it. At the time she was 3 but has since had her birthday, she also loves the first PoTC film but after us watching the second film I don't think she'd like it.

We took our son the first time when he was four years and he loved it.
Now he's 18 and still loves itt.

Our DD was a little scared the first time she rode POTC as it was a little dark and spooky for her, HOWEVER she quickly wanted a repeat ride. :rotfl2:

Its one of her all time favs as is The Blue Lagoon restaurant inside.

The worst that can happen is she keeps her eyes closed all the around and does not want seconds. Go for it she may looooove it. pirate:

Our DD was 3 when she went on POTC and she absolutely loved it.
She just turned 4 in February and absolutely loved Dead Man's Chest so we knew that she would not be frightened :teeth:

The ride certainly isn't as scary as the film - there are no cursed pirates in the moonlight. In fact I think the queuing area is the scariest bit - it's very dark!! So if your DD gets down to the boats quite happily, then I'm sure she will love the rest!

My daughter went on the ride when she was 3 and loves it, though I would never let her watch the POTC movie as I know that it would frighten her.

Just to add - the skeletons don't move at all, and the cursed caves come right at the end of the ride. The ride really isn't done in a scary way at all, its very lighthearted and fun, from the "Yo Ho" song to the dog with the keys, it's all very nice and innocent compared to the films, you'll probably be surprised.

I agree with isma that Snow White and Pinocchio are far scarier!! :teeth:

:thumbsup2 Thanks everyone!
It sounds like I don't have anything to worry about ;)
It'll definatly be staying on the list for her to try if she'd like to and if she doesn't want a second ride, well at least we'll both have had the experience of trying it pirate: pirate:

Our DD (4) - who is quite sensitive was mored scared of the queueing area too ! and I definitely think Snow White was a much scarier ride.

My DD has never seen either film though. I don't think you need to to enjoy the ride.

I agree, my DD (5) is looking forward to the POTC ride again but has told us that she does not want to go on Snow White or Pinocchio.

when you think abotu it they are not nice stories at all even dressed up with disney magic it is still a wicked stepmother who enslaves her stepdaughter and a toy who comes alive :o

my brother was 3 when we went and he really enjoyed it,he wasnt scarred of anything, as far as i can remmber
