Another Disney site lists POTC as being down for rehab 3/1-7/1 2006, but it's not listed here on this site and it's not on the official Disney site, either.

So which is it? Is it going to be down? I think I'm going to cry if it is! pirate:

Aaaahhhhhhhh! Surely not during high season? That's supposed to be one of the rewards of going when it's crowded and hot.........everything up and running! I'll really miss not sharing it with my newly turned 4 year old!

I thought that was just the DL ride. Am I wrong? Please tell me I'm not!

they are both going down for Refurb (DL and WDW) I know they are going to be staggered, so one is going down later and reopening later than the other one. I am not sure which is which, I *think* I remember that DL is going down from March til June and WDW is going down from May-Sept

Disneyland's Pirates will be closed March 6 through June 21 for refurbishment. There has been no official word yet on rehab dates for WDW's Pirates. There have been rumors that it will be down for sometime (with the movie coming out July 4 it would make sense), BUT Disney has not released any offical rehab schedule for WDW yet.

I have read at two other (usually reliable) places that WDW's PotC would be down approximately May-September of this year. As others have said, all seems to be unofficial at this point.

OH.....say it ain't so! We will be at WDW in Sept. Hopefully it will be open by the time we go!! I do remember on our KTTK Tour last May that our guide said they were redoing them both for the new movie. Can't wait!

They are REALLY considering closing down this ride when the next PotC will be released? I think thats a horrible marketing strategy! From what I've seen online, it's only DL for now... Keeping my fingers crossed

PS- CDSTapisRouge... Your little engineer is due on my birthday! :goodvibes Just had to let that be known! hehe! Congratulations!

I saw this on MousePlanet, but it does seem to be unconfirmed at this point. I was hoping it would be up and running again by August. I guess we'll see!

Dates are conflicting but it seems that WDW's refurb will be from 3/1 to 7/1. However, since the refurb isn't as involved as the DL one, it seems that it might be closed the entire time from March to July. This is from a friend who works at the ride.

A Disney trip is not complete without a ride on Pirates. I will be so heart-broken if it is closed in May.

Last month I was given dates of 4/24-7/4/2006 for the refurb. This was from someone who works in WDW Shops. It should be open when the next POTC movie is released.

The refurb is supposed to include at least one Jack Sparrow AA added to the attraction. The final treasure scene will be changed (I was told gutted) to include Jack talking with a parrot.

We're going in May as well - my sister will be so upset if it's closed - it's a classic!

POTC is such a classic. I hope they don't change the ride much. I like it just as it is, hairy leg and all! :thumbsup2

From http://www.mouseplanet.com/articles.php?art=wd051227mg :

"We are hearing that Pirates of the Caribbean will close for refurbishment in May, and will reopen in mid-September. We have heard from a couple of sources now that there will be three Jack Sparrow animatronics added, as well as a couple of other changes based on the movie that was inspired by the attraction.
...
The changes will not be on the scale of those expected for Disneyland's version of the attraction, however."

Yes, Jack Sparrow is being added to both parks. He is what everyone is looking for. DL will be getting some new features beyond WDW. In Florida all I hear is them receiving a Ghostly Sea Nymph woman character in the cave plus the long awaited Jack Sparrow.
