POTC III Debut March or May?--Any updates?

A while back, there was a lot of talk on this board about whether or not DL would host the POTC III opening or if it would be held at Long Beach, or LA. then there was some discussion as to whether the event like last year, would precede the opening of the film in May or be moved to March to coincide with the anniversary date of the POTC ride. Is there any new info on this?

The only info I have seen on this, and it is rumor as described by the author himself, is given by Al Lutz's recent articles on www.miceage.com. It appears you already know of this info based on your OP. I have not heard anything else but what Al reports.

I have read the article, but i've been wondering if anyone has noticed if they started on the renos for the pirate island yet. The last I heard was that it was in the talking stages, but at the same time it said if it were gonna happen it would be over the winter months or something like that.

Info from the latest mouseplanet update regarding the third pirates and the pirate island......

It looks like the pirate retheming of Tom Sawyer Island, originally reported at the Web site MiceAge, is moving forward. A long closure of the island is now on the official Disneyland calendar. It will close on Monday, January 12, and stay closed until late May, though it will presumably open in time for the Memorial Day opening of Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End (and even earlier if, as expected the premiere is again held at Disneyland). A several weak closure of Fantasmic! was already on the calendar for January but it looks that has also been extended to match the general island closure.
