POTC drops

There is no drop after Davy Jones. There is the first one that is dark right after the BB where the pirate skull is talking above you. That's the "big one" but it's really not that big, you barely have time to scream and it's over. LOL The second one you can see, it's right after the first one, you turn a corner and there it is, the third one is tiny, after you come up from underground you go down a tiny itty bitty *drop*, not even a drop really but you do go down. LOL

haha after i read the original post i was like drop? davy jones? what?? I thought maybe I had a brainfart! wheew!

OK you say it is nothing
Eveyone who doesn't mind drops says it is nothing.

But what it right before it. I think I can MAKE myself go again if I know I'll see __________ scene and then the little drop.....

It is nothing....the rides starts off in the Bayou, you pass the shacks, fireflies, frogs, diners at BB and the old man on his porch, then you turn a corner and it starts to get dark. There's a skull above you giving a speech (Psst. avast there matey, it be too late to alter course now...etc etc) about staying seated and keeping your "ruddy hands inboard", then you drop, it's dark, you can't see anything. After that you hear pirates singing and you can see again, there's another drop, smaller than the first. Then you can see the theming, waterfalls, faces reflecting in the pools, and then it's actual scenes. That's it, only those 2 drops, they really are nothing at all, the first one is "scarier" only because it's so dark and you can't see it.

They're nothing! I wish they were bigger!!!!!!!:lmao:

You and my 5 year old! We made the mistake of taking him on Space Mountain as his first ride, and the kid turns out to be a total roller coaster/thrill ride fanatic. All the way through POTC, he kept asking when the ride was going to go fast. He would have loved more and bigger drops, too!

THANK YOU
THANK YOU

Another quick question.
I thought the 2 drops was the DL ride.

I was curious about the DW version, especially if its different.

DL has 2 drops, DW has 1. But I've never been to DW so I can't say for 100%, that's just what I know from being here. :)

I got myself to do POTC.
There is only 1 drop at the early part of the ride.
It was after the boat went into the dark.

I didn't like it but it wasn't much.
Because of the drop POTC will never be my favorite ride but it was OK and I could do it again.

I know this is an older thread, but in regards to the Pirates at WDW, the one drop that it has isn't even really a drop. It's more like a 3 foot dip and that's it. Seriously, it's no bigger or longer than a toddlers little slide that you see on one of those toddler indoor/outdoor plastic playsets.

What about the drop(s) at DLR? I'm fine with the drop on the WDW ride--in fact, I kind of like it---but worried about the ones on the Disneyland pirates, since I've heard the first drop is bigger than the one at WDW. Can you noticeably tell it's a bigger drop at DLR, or does it feel the same as WDW's?

Both the drops on Pirates at DLR are noticeably bigger compared to the little dip at the WDW's Pirates.

Now, don't get me wrong. The drops at DLR aren't huge, but they're enough to give you a little butterfly tickle feeling in your tummy.

The first drop is about 20 feet (just a guess since it happens in the dark), and the second drop is about 15 feet . Just to give you some perspective, there's a slide at my kids school that's a good 12 feet long, and my kids have a playfort in our backyard with a slide about 8 feet long, so if you could handle that, then you could handle the drops in Pirates at DLR.

So basically the drops shouldn't scare you, and they're not wickedly long or anything, but for someone who really hates drops, they'll give you a little thrill. If you think about it though, they let babies go on it, so how bad could the drops be? Really, they aren't that bad.:)

i've ridden potc at wdw & dl & i hate drops too but enjoy both versions of this ride. the drops at dl are no bigger than the one at wdw. and imho i think the dl version is much better. there seems to be more to the ride. ride it & have a great time. also at the end you go up a huge lift but its not a big drop after it. if i remember right its just a foot or two that you drop bringing you back up to the unloading area.

for the person who wanted to know where the only drop at wdw is, its not far into the ride when you come to a storm scene with a skeleton at the ship's wheel & you hear "dead men tell no tales". it's not a very big drop. 20 feet maybe & not really steep. :goodvibes
