POTC doing soft openings

Although the official opening date for Pirates of the Caribbean is July 7th, I just spoke with someone who rode it today during a soft opening.

Yuppers!!!!

just got back from a quick trip over to MK. Got there about 9:15 and headed straight for POC. They have a rope up and there were a bunch of suits standing around as well as CM's dressed in Adventureland Costumes. I went up to a CM and asked if they were going to do a soft opening today and with a smile on her face she said "POC officially opens July 7th" I knew that but I also knew that some CM's got to ride yesterday so I offered her treasure for info but no dice....I knew by the way that she was acting that if I hung around there was a good chance it was going to happen
Well about 15 minutes later I see the doors open and then they announced the ride was open!!!!
I was on that line in seconds! When I saw the CM again I gave her a thumbs up and she laughed.
The ride was awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!

Capt Jack is HOT!!!!!
When I got off, I went right back on....no wait no lines! People were cheering when the boat left the loading area and cheering when it returned. The Suits were asking what people thought of the ride and were thanking guests for trying it out!

the ride is great. I stayed away from all threads about DL's POC as well as CM's descriptions of the ride since I wanted to experience it firsthand. The same with the new movie...don't tell me ANYTHING!!!!!!!!!
As for the ride, there are some changes that are very noticeable but others that you have to really know what it looked like before to even know what changed.
Capt. Jack is amazing. Dead on! His looks, voice, animation...it's Capt Jack all the way!!!

I can hardly wait.... we arrive at WDW on Wednesday morning.... Hubby checked the Disney Web site and he was all disapointed the POTC was still closed and I assured him that it would be open when we got there... I told him I check Disboards a bunch and my pals out there told me so!!!!! Can't wait!!!!!

My nephew(13)(At WDW now with my DSis and other nephew) called me about an hour or so ago...first thing out of his mouth...."IT'S OPEN, IT'S OPEN!!!". Then, "I'll call you back later." He loved it and was so thrilled. We can't wait to see it in November.

There were no structural changes to the attraction.

The reason the Florida version can't have two drops is because of the high water table.

We went on it this morning too. After a CM told us bluntly 'it opens in 6 more days' at 9am we did the rest of the rides on our list and headed back at 11am and it was open. Just a note to everyone- even when some of the CM's say it's not open keep revisiting.

I'm not going to spoil the ride, but one of the funniest scenes involves the new- and yes practically perfect- captain sparrow looking as if he's trying to decide which dress to wear!!! He's not, but we all giggled! Enjoy

BTW splash was down first thing but came back after about an hour or so.

I too would like to be surprised and not to know any details of the story, but what was the sound upgrade like. Can you hear the story lines over the music? What was the cannon fire like, any changes?

Yes! We rode it just a few hours ago. Had a long que line. But it only took maybe 20 minutes. (Used the left side que.) It was not as bad as it looked. And the ride looks GOOD. I love the waterfall effect.

Everyone seemed very pleased with the soft rehab.
That first Jack Sparrow looked so darned real I wasn't so sure he was not!

And the crowd levels at MK today were much lower than most Saturdays. People must just be coming in today.

And the sound at the ships is MUCH better. You can tell they worked on that area.

DD and I were there yesterday and hoped maybe we would get some PD and it would have started yesterday.

Nice to know the crowds were not bad today - I think we might head out for the evening since the park is open until 11pm and see if we can get lucky!!!!

Looks like there's another storm brewing, so I think we will wait until 6ish!!!

We rode it twicw today! Went over about 10:20 and it was a 20 min. wait. 30-40 later in the day...have not been in a line for POTC for 15 years!!! Was weird. Jason Kidd and his family rode it behind us...DH has a GAC because he can't stand long with his back so we got right on by using it this afternoon.

SOOOOOOO much Pirates merchandise....it is cool! Good way to revamp the ride and merchandise....we were so glad it was open today! It made our MK day and whole trip!

i'm so excited about the new poc but i won't see it untill may so i need details! i looked at some photos and was wondering what the plot is and why is everyone one looking for jack? lol it sounds great i can't wait to see the new movie!

I liked the fact that Barbosa basicaly says the same line s the old captain said.

I don't like the fact that the yo ho yo ho song was removed form the first scene in teh caverns with davey jones (what replaced it was a low music, i think it is his theme ) Also our favorite talking warning skull is no more, he is gone from his perch on the wall. I felt somethign was missing with out him there.
