Has anyone seen the new POTC movie yet? My brother and SIL would like to take our 5 year old tomorrow to see it but I don't know if it is appropriate for a 5 year old? She has seen the first POTC but not the second or 3rd. She gets scared easily. Any super scary parts? Any parents of 5 year olds out there give the movie a yeah or a nah? Thanks! :)

I wish! I couldn't get a sitter this weekend. My husband & I were planning on taking my dad with us to see it. Hopefully next weekend.

Now you have me wondering however... My husband says he thinks our DS7 and DD11 can see the 1st movie and I've been hemming and hawing over it. Perhaps I'm being too over-protective if your 5 year old has seen it already!

I won't even let my 9 year old see it. She gets upset over intense scenes. She got scared watching stuart little.

There are some frightening scenes. The mermaids are pretty scary-vampire like. I would watch it before and then decide if your 5 year old can handleit.

Saw it yesterday. . . . not sure I would let a 5 yr old see it. There are some scary scenes with the mermaids, so I'm not so sure. It's a good movie and older children will love it.

Saw it this afternooon with my ds (8) and the mermaids aren't nice. :scared1:

Luckily someone had pre-warned me about them so I covered his eyes.

I wouldn't let a five year old see it without seeing for yourself first. :thumbsup2

Same as above, but honestly, I don't think it would hold a 5 year olds attention. It is pretty long and there are some parts that are...well... a little boring. It was different then the other movies.

we just came home and our four and five year old saw it. like above the only issues i had was with the mermaids....but mine luckily were on a pee break when that happened. since loreleis fave is ariel, i was kinda happy! lol it is much more intense for little ppl this go round. i still loved it but it was quite differenet than the first 3.

We get to see it tomorrow night afterwards! We had dinner at my parents' house tonight and mom volunteered to come over and watch the kids!!

It know it would have been waay too intense for my kids when they were that age! There is one scene where the mermaids are attacking and are chasing one character in particular. He runs across a rickety bridge and their hands shockingly crash through the boards seconds after him, that part was too close to a horror movie, even my 11 year old commented about it. The zombie crewmen were not nice, something else to give a 5 year old nightmares for sure. The end as well, is intense and above all it is fairly violent. Dont get me wrong, I really enjoyed this movie but just commenting on the perspective of letting a 5 year old see it.

Thank-you for sharing. We decided to not let her go see it and told them they can take her to the movies when the Cars sequel comes out :3dglasses

Thank You As Well Everyone!
DS will be 10 in July and he's going to see it with his cousins this afternoon. DD will be 8 in September and I don't think it's one she should see yet on the big screen. I think we'll wait for Cars II for DD and DS4.
In the meantime, today is DW's and my anniversary (19) so we may take a night this week and watch it ourselves!
In the end, we'll likely get the blu-ray when it comes out (December?)
