Posters who start threads, THEN DON'T UPDATE THEM!!!!

It drives me insane, a poster will start a thread about a serious health or medical issue or family situation, many times it seems critical in nature. They ask for support, prayers and even may ask questions such as has anyone experienced a similiar ordeal. They talk about awaiting test results, etc--and then it happens, they never reply back to the post. No updates, nothing. And you know they are making post on other threads. And despite plea's for an update nothing!!

Does this drive anyone ekse crazy? I can't understand why you would invite people into you lives, seek answers to questions, open yourself up and then never put closure in the thread. There was arecent thread about a medical issue involving a child, where the op asked some questions, the situation seemed fairly serious, she mentioned awaiting test results, and then bam never replied back to the thread. And the op has been posting to other threads, many fluff thread, so I assume since her mood seems open to posting to more fun thread that her original situation isn't all that serious. Just really aggravates me.

Sometimes I think people are so involved with issue they don't have time. I know I sometimes ask for prayers or help in RL and then forget to let people know that I'm okay.

When people have issues here on the DIS I pray for them and give them to God. I also let it go. They may have needed to vent or open up at the moment and once the trauma is over they don't feel the need to talk about it anymore... who knows?

I always just figure the outcome wasn't the greatest, and they simply no longer want to talk about it. That or they are busy.

My favorite posters are the ones who actually update the thread and include the page # in the original title. So nice!

That thread was back before I joined, when I just lurked. But I think I remember reading that the poster was seriously ill, maybe with Lupus? I don't think she ever came back. I hope the poster is OK.

Focusondisney -- seems like I remember reading that, too. I hope if she was sick, she's feeling better, too. And I know I'm a terrible person for thinking this, but there were SOOOO many DIS'ers who were intrigued and involved in that thread, if she wasn't sick....were we duped?

I give them the benefit of the doubt. If the outcome wasn't good, maybe they are so upset that they just can't talk about it. I know if something bad happened to me or a close family member, after I posted asking for prayers or good thoughts, I probably wouldn't feel much like coming back to a message board either. Now those that are obviously posting on other threads, that is a little more difficult to understand why they wouldn't post an update.
