The school district I live in starts Sept 6 and has fall break Oct 20-21.

Some Alabama schools have the week of Columbus Day off.

Our school schedules here (just southwest of DFW area in Texas) changed this year.. everything is different. Our schedule in Oct this year was only the 1st and 4th off (a long weekend instead of a full week off)

We're always out the week of Columbus day, so this year it's October 10-14, and yes . . . WE WILL BE THERE!

MN has a two day break October 20-21. It is affectionately known as "MEA weekend". (Opportunity for teachers to go to scheduled workshops/teacher fair)

DH and I are thinking about taking my niece to WDW 10/20-10/23. Are there any MN people out there who've gone over MEA that can tell us how the crowds usually are?

I am so jealous! If we had October 6-11 off we could go to WDW on Oct. 4 and still be in Value season! GRR! Maybe you should PM me what school district you are in so we can move over the summer!

I don't think Dallas has ever had a Fall break. My friend in Carrollton said they just get Columbus Day, and that counts as Fair Day for them. The DISD calendar is just pitiful for 2005-06. The kids won't even have President's Day off next year because it is the day before TAKS testing! But the website said that was a statewide decision, so I guess none of the kids will be off!

We are in Alabama and the propsed break is the same week we already have ressies. Works out well for my 9 year old godson! But, should I be concerned about an increase in crowds that week? We go from the 17th- 22nd. It is the same week as the PGA thing. A lot of feedback I read was during PGA that there really isnt an increase since most of them are on the courses. I have really been selling everyone on our time of year choice and I would hate to get there and be crowded. I am really not sure of what to expect.

We just received the school calendar yesterday. My girls will be out Oct 19-21, and we plan on going to Disney Oct 15-22. They will only miss a few days of school.

Lake County Schools in Florida do not have an October break.

Many schools in the Indianapolis area now have a 2-4 day break the week of Oct 24th. We are pulling the kids 1.5 days to make it a whole week (silly that it isn't a whole week already!). We believe that many school systems are inching towards a year-round schedule and this Fall break is a small step to that end.

I got a sneak peek at the calendar for 05-06. We have off Oct 4 &5, Oct 10 and Oct 13.

My kids get out of school on September 30 (Friday) and return on October 17 (Monday)

I love Fall Break!!!

That is really odd. The national testing for PSAT is administered during that time period, and I can't imagine a school system that would not be in session so their kids could take it.

Our school system's fall break this year is October 17th - 21st.
