I've heard of a rule saying that Adults couldn't dress up I asked the "Mom's Panel" on the disney website. They said you can dress up. I asked about the MNSSHP but got a reply saying that you can dress up 365 days of the year? Whats that about when everyone else says you can't? I asked back in May...

Thats crappy! I mean its on the "DISNEY" site I would think disney would worried about giving the wrong information out! That kinda upsets me, I mean where do you go for the "Right" answers lol

The parks are a casual, family-oriented environment. We suggest you dress comfortably, wear good walking shoes and check the local weather report before you leave for the parks.

Ensuring that the parks are family friendly is an important part of the Disney experience. In that spirit, we ask you to use your discretion and common sense. Attire that is not appropriate for the theme parks (and which may result in refusal of admittance) includes but is not limited to:
•Adult costumes or clothing that can be viewed as representative of an actual Disney character
•Masks (unless you are dressing up for a particular event)
•Clothing with objectionable material, including obscene language or graphics
•Excessively torn clothing
•Clothing which, by nature, exposes excessive portions of the skin that may be viewed as inappropriate for a family environment
•Objectionable tattoos

A Guest is allowed into the parks if her or his hair (or make-up, if applicable) has been made to resemble a Disney Princess or character (for example, after a Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique makeover) provided the Guest is not also wearing a costume or clothed to look like the character.

Yup, says it right there... So age 10 is because after that you get an adult ticket? Ok this is all coming together now lol.

If it is the SAME DAY as your MNSSHP you should be fine. It is only on non MNSSHPs that you would not be allowed in. I plan to arrive in costume early to meet Peter Pan. It should not be an issue.

ETA: We should hear reports about how early poeple have gotten in with their costumes on after the first party starts tonight. Keep in mind that if you need to enter before 4pm, you will need a regular park ticket in addition to your MNSSHP ticket.

Actually, the ages for BBB are 3-12. I guess they will allow an 11 or 12 year old to wear a costume while made up as long as they paid for the experience.

Ahhhh... We have park tickets for that day too, I'm so excited cause I can plan to go earlier now. I switched out the hula hoop for 1/2 inch steel corset boning in my daughters dress. Worked just as good, its more flexible and I can take it out and coil up small to fit in the locker. still trying to decide for me. My daughter wants me to be Hocus Pocus. My son.. Fairy Godmother..

AND I need to pick up some space saver bags lol!

oops, sorry i read somewhere it was 10, not that i ever need to know that as i have a boy (he has gotten his shield and sword and never set foot in there )


corset boning is a MUCH better option!!!

that is lovely!!! i always liked the broadway dress more from a design perspective.

(and good hoops and a balanced dress will just push in and not out, how awkward would it have been for historical girls if that were the case?)

I'll be there October 5th... But that's not the gown I'm using, lol. That was for our school production of beauty and the beast. The girl in the photo played Belle. I was going to make a Redhead costume from the POTC ride, but my friends are going to be Rainbow Brite and the Color Kids, so I'm saving my Redhead costume for next year..

The Tink problem was that she was dressed in a costume which is not allowed for anyone over 10 (and maybe including 10) on a normal park day. Adults are only allowed to dress up for MNSSHP and SWW. She had been to SWW earlier that day, but when she tried to enter AK later that day she was given clothes to change into. Instead of doing the appropriate thing, she chose to whine to the media and cry like a two year old about her life dream being ruined by the big bad Disney. Oh boo hoo...

Oh believe me, I will be LOOKING four your costume!!! That Cinderella costume is FANTASTIC! Did you get a pattern? Where did you get it, if you did?

the bodice is a part of a pattern, modified to do what i needed it to, the sleeves are redrafted from a different pattern, the skirt is a basic drindel skirt pattern pleated instead of gathering, the peplums were drafted... so a frankenpattern the bloomers are jut rows and rows and rows of ruffles sewn to white cotton leggings why make the base when i didnt have to oh and hoops, but i bought those years and years and years ago...

oh, and best way EVER to do all the pleating? curtain pencil pleating tape!!! baste on the fabric below where the waist band goes on, and pull the strings to about an inch smaller than you want the waist (the pleats slightly stretch when sewing) and pin. i have done too much hand cartridge pleating to care to do it if i dont have to. http://i200.photobucket.com/albums/aa24/kgleine/100_8413.jpg

I do that alot, frankenpattern lol funny. and just alter a few peices here and there. lol I'm soo steeling that phrase!

Wow, look at that! What a phenomenal idea!!! And the gathering is all so EVEN!!! I'm cutting and pasting so I have this forever. I do all that dang pleating by hand too!
