Thanks! I actually was in the mood to knit so that worked out good. I can do that while watching TV instead of farming on facebook :rotfl: The rest were pretty easy to do , I did learn that I'm not good enough to be quilting with white thread on blue backing. :goodvibes Brenda

tigger+5 - i love, love, love the colors on the jungle print, and how you alternated the orientation of the squares. great job on everything....

how long did it take you on the big quilts?

OMG- I think I'm a thread killer!

Sorry, I didn't see your post until today. I've been quilting for years and have made quite a few "quilt in a day" patterns. They are usually easy strip quilts where it's a lot like an assembly line. You make the same strips and then sew them staggered. It's really a good way to learn because you can finish the "top" in a weekend with the cutting and sewing. You feel like you accomplished something and they look so pretty with just a basic pattern.

This time I made the kids and my husband tie the tops to the batting and the backing. I made it as easy as possible. No edging, I just sewed it inside and then turned them right side out. No actual "quilting" on these. I would not been able to pull off three "handquilted" blankets in the two month time frame I gave myself.

All the fabric was donated to me. All my friends and co-workers give me their scrap fabric so I have bins and bins of it. None of that fabric was even bought at the same time.

I just had to buy the backing (easy peasy twin flat sheet) and the batting.
Anyone else have pretty pictures of their quilts?

Everyones blankets are just lovely! My family was excited to participate in this activity. We just mailed our blankets out today.

I think my family will make several more blankets throughout the year for our local chapter. Taking the time to make a blanket (or Kiki as my kids call them) and donate it to a child who needs some extra love is something they can relate to.

Just want to say to all of you that have made blankets for project Linus...Thank you.:thumbsup2. One of my co-workers did the give a day and chose Project Linus. This opened up a door for them to start donating to us (I work in an ER). We have loved having the blankets to give to the kids. It doesn't take away their fears of course but I love to give one to a child and when I am back in their treatment room later they are all snuggled up with it. It is just something fun to give them instead of all the ouchies we usually have hand out:( So thanks for all of you who out so much time into making these blankets. It really brightens up the kids faces when they get these.
