Post your Disney engagement stories!!

Congrats to both you guys!! You have lucky girlfriends!!

Thanks for all the help....Let me know if you think of anything. I just got a PM from someone letting me know that City Hall wouldn't have that many pennies, but we have time to think of something else. Thanks again..

Good luck to both of you.

I love the beach at the Poly and Kona Cafe!! The coconut almond chicken is amazing!!!!!!

jessesgirl - Yeah, I could see the backpack thing being weird. But hopefully you can arrange something the day before. If I think of it, and have time while I'm there this week, I'll stop in City Hall and run the idea past the CM's there to see if what he's looking to do (buying the pennies in the park) would work. I'll let you know.

jaymdubbs - Congrats on the forthcoming engagement! We'll be actually leaving Disney on the 20th, but hoping your GF remains clueless about when you're gonna do it. I'll be proposing on the 15th, and my GF is still in the dark! :woohoo:

It's nice to know that there's another guy lurking around on this board! :)

Congrats to you as well - i am extremely nervous (in a good way obviously) - initially i am a little concerned about getting the ring through airport security, so i decided to put it in my carry on and attach a note to it saying this contains an engagement ring, please open discreetly :D heres to hoping the airport doesnt ruin my plan!!!!!

btw - you have suggested a lot of great ideas

to the OP - i hope your brother comes up with something good. after my trip, i will chime in to let everyone know how it went!!!!:yay:

My bf proposed to me last August. He made the mistake of putting the ring on the bags after we checked them. He flipped out when the magical express took so long. Good thinking with the note on the bag.

When I got proposed to we went to Citricos for dinner and he said he wanted to watch the fireworks from MK afterwards. It turned out the chef who prepared our meals was from a town in Sicily that was near the town my family is from, so I ended up spending a while talking with him. In the middle of our desserts, the fireworks starting going off. My bf had a heart attack.... He was really angry and I had no idea why.

Then after dinner he told me he wanted to get some pictures by the pier by Narcoossee's. He had me stand by the water and pretended that something was wrong with the camera. I got angry that he wasn't taking the picture and he told me that something was missing. Aggrevated, I asked what. He then got down on his knee and pulled out the Tiffany box.

It was impromptu but worked and was romantic.

Good luck!

Long time no see...but congrats, Carly on your wedding! Your PJ looks awesome (the little I've had time to skim through)...any update on your brother's proposal?!

My DF called Disney and had them arrange a photopass photographer there. He had 2 ideas but he said I messed one up by changing our dining reservations.

We were going to eat at Tony's on Valentine's Day. He was having his suit shipped over and was going to go into the bathroom and change. Then he was going to come out with roses and propose!

We actually got engaged at California Grill on the balcony. He had photopass come in and we went out to watch the fireworks. They asked if we wanted our picture taken with the fireworks and he proposed. The photopass people were AWESOME. It was the Pirate and Princess fireworks and they were texting back and forth with CM's in MK to find out when big fireworks were coming!

If you need help just call Disney. They will do anything to help. :goodvibes

DEFINITELY take it in your carry on. I would NEVER check an expensive piece of jewelry. I hear too many horror stories with airport employees stealing stuff. Good luck!!

Hey Spin!

Sorry I was MIA.. my sis had a baby!

So, my brother did propose.. used your idea and everything!
They had shirts made too!

From the story I heard, he made his GF go around her resort and find 1000 pennies (but wouldn't tell her why she was doing it) Then, made her carry them into the park.. she supposedly is still clueless? Anways, he waited until after the fireworks, really late at night (I think the park was open until 3 in the morning that night!) No photopass... nothing like that. He proposed right at the well, but I am still clueless as to what exactly he said and all that...

I think they have a few pics, but I haven't got them yet.. I need to though..

So.. my lazy brother made his own GF plan her proposal..
but it was a success... they were walking around in their "bride" and "groom" t-shirts when we ran into them later that night!
I think they are looking at June of 2010 for the wedding.
SO.. thank you for the idea.. even though he took all of our glory!

and Congratulations to you! Got a date set yet?

Heres my engagement story I posted 2 years ago

"I just got back from my trip to disney with my now fiance' on sunday. On Nov.26th (my birthday too!) he proposed on the beach at the poly with the help of Jane from GOAL. He did the treasure hunt on the beach. I have to say it was perfect. I had no idea what he was planning so earlier in the day we were in MK and he just decides its time to go, and its only like 3pm at this point. I didn't argue because I figured he was trying to do somethiong nice for my birthday. So we leave and hop on the monorail and at every stop I asked him, are we getting off here? Finally we get off at the Poly and he says since it's your birthday we're here to have your first drink (it was my 21st). We each had a drink at the bar and then he says he has to go to the bathroom. About 15 mionutes later the bartender comes up to me and says "get dumped?" lol. I said Kevin was just in the bathroom and maybe he got lost. Ofcorse the bartender points out the bathroom is DIRECTLY behind me and of corse at the exact moment here comes Kevin from the other side of the hotel. The bartender said maybe he was making dinner res. (He actualy was off meeting Jane in the gift shop) For the next hour or so we just walked around the resort (we were there too early so we had to kill time). kevin finally asked me if I wanted to take a walk on the beach and when I said no he made a panicked face at me, so I agreed as long as we could walk close to the sidewalk so my shoes wouldn't fill with sand.

Well 5 minutes later and shoes overflowing with sand he starts telling me he found a message in a bottle by the waters edge. In it was a treasure map telling me to go find my treasure. After what felt like forever we finally find our mark in the sand and burried underneath was a treasure chest with the open ring box in it.

Needless to say it was the perfect birhtday present ever. Later that night we went to the Cali. Grill for dinner and stopped in the MK to take some pics in front of the castle. The perfect end to a perfect day."

Hes not much of a planner so he used Giftsofalifetime.com and they set up everything. Best part was they were taking photos the whole time and I had no idea until we came home and she had e-mailed us the photos.

-Lauren :goodvibes

Edit: I didn't read til the end before I posted, now I see he already proposed, lol. Even though she had to get her own pennies it sounds like it went perfect!
