Here's my dumb question... how do you know if something qualifies as a snack credit? Do you have to ask every time or is it marked on the menu or what?
This will be our first trip to WDW and we are using the dining plan. New to this whole thing.

On the menu, a small, purple box identifies the item as a snack. Of course you can always ask for help to make sure you utilize the snack credits properly. Have a great trip!

I don't have a picture of it, but I wanted to chime in here and say I thought the best snack (and by far the best value) we had was the ice cream cookie at the Main Street Bakery at Magic Kingdom.
Two massive Toll House chocolate chip cookies sandwiching enough ice cream to feed three people. My husband, daughter, and I all shared ONE and we still couldn't finish it. MSB seems to stay perpetually busy, but it's worth the wait in line for that snack. As the cashier put it, it's really three snacks for the price of one! And it counts as ONE snack credit on the DDP.
We had sooo many snacks, some r still in the cupboard!
Cinnamon Roll & Cherry Danish
Cinnamaon roll at POR
I was quite surprised to see so many ppl on the DDP that thought snacks were just drinks/popcorn/icecream as it says in the info.....but then i spose it saves Disney cash!
