I've hit a point in my life where the prince saving the princess no longer appeals to me. It's no longer cute or sweet or romantic. I now see it as a put down, it makes me feel like society feels I can't fend for myself. How do you expect girls to be successful in life if they grow up feeling someone needs to come along and save them. I think girls need to save themselves for once, straighten your spine, take a deep breath, and save yourself. Why is it always the girls who play victim? Is there something wrong with us? Are we of inferior intellect and strength that we are in need of constant supervision and assistance? Look back at one of the most famous sayings in history, "All men are created equal..." So where do I stand in that picture? "Men will always tell you that they do it all, but women do the work you never see." They said that in a children's show, so why is it so hard for adults to see? Give me some credit would you? I may not be able to play on a professional sports team, and I may not be looked at as strong enough for certain things, but I count for something don't I? In a country where woman were liberated 100 years ago, why do you STILL almost never hear of women heros in works of literature and art? I don't know the answer, and it worries me that I even need ask this question.
