Post-trip survey & no FP+ Evaluation?

We just returned from a week at Art of Animation. I received one of the classic follow up survey emails and decided to fill it out due to a really disappointing CM encounter at ABC Commissary. I also thought I could voice my satisfaction with/affirm several other CMs, how much we loved AoA, and how much we didn't love fp+.

Through what was asked, I was able to communicate everything except my impressions of fp+. I mean, I was asked 2 questions about MDE and fp+.
1. Did I use them?
2. How likely am I to recommend that a friend use MDE and fp+ if/when they travel to WDW?

Talk about loaded questions. Of course I'm going to recommend a friend use it. Doesn't mean I like it. I thought there would maybe be an "additional comments" section at the close of the survey, but nope, nothing. No chance in the 30+ to offer user feedback on their $2 billion investment.

I get that they are at the point of no return to legacy fp, but no space to give feedback and gather info on user satisfaction? Seems strange to me.

This fits in with what others have reported. I believe that Disney is in full spin mode when it comes to FP+. Whether they need to be or not is another question.

Watch out. Someone may be along soon to tell you that it makes no sense for Disney to do not get your feedback about FP+ and to only give you the option of picking positive answers and you must be mistaken about what you read.

BTW...thanks for the report! :thumbsup2

Its getting awfully tiresome to have predictions posted about what comments will follow a posting of negative comments.

It's not really all that insightful and reeks of trying to stir the pot.

It actually makes perfect sense not to ask or give the opportunity to express opinions of fp+ if they weren't interested in the opinions on fp+ in this particular survey. Obviously, they weren't.

You just proved the previous poster right. :rotfl:

Wow- someone predicting what others will say in the debate of fp+- how psychic!

Except she didn't.

She said this:

And my response was this:

So actually, I didn't. But I did respond...which is what this newest tactic is trying to prevent. Post what you think those that don't agree with you will say and somehow that's going to stop them from responding. Brilliant.

Here's a prediction:

No one that dislikes fp+ is going to agree with me.

Go ahead, you can call me psychic- it's just a matter of time. :rotfl:

Interesting. Based on what I think you're saying, even the minimal questions asked could be used to indicate a negative opinion of FP+. Giving how ranking to how likely someone is to recommend MDE/FP+ may not allow the responder to explain why, but with enough negative responses the survey results would display a clear problem.

That makes sense, but here's the thing...
1. The survey asked me about virtually every part of my stay (what facilities & amenities did we/did we not use, where did we eat, which parks/destinations we visited, did we go to any shows, timing of my bowel movements... well almost everything).
2. With everything it asked me about, it asked me a "satisfaction" or "give us more detail" follow-up, except when it came to MDE and FP+ (read op to see what it asked).
3. It seemed to me that they went out of their way to keep me from being able to give any feedback on my experience w/ MDE/fp+. I mean I was looking for and couldn't even find a spot to offer feedback.

To clarify a little, I don't hate the new system - although I did turn to say "I hate fp+" at one point after waiting nearly 10 minutes at a kiosk to get a pass to not wait in line for an attraction that ended up w/ only a 10 minute standby because my only choices left in the time frame I wanted were Dumbo or It's a Small World... Irony, anyone? I did come down off the rage of that specific moment. I do find multiple things cumbersome and annoying in the current layout.

Also, so want to say it was a GREAT vacation. We had a fantastic time as a family, laughed a lot, had some great conversations as a family, created some great memories, had a few epic meltdowns (but my wife is doing much better now), and we will go back again. To rip off another thread, the pixie dust is still there in my book.

In my mind, surveys are a place to affirm what you appreciated and critique what you'd like to see improved. I'd really like to see several things changed w/ MDE app and FP+ and would welcome the opportunity to share those directly with Bob Iger. Is that too much to ask? ;-)

I thought through that answer for a second but it asked the likelihood I would recommend a friend use MDE/FP+ on an upcoming trip. The reality is I will and have recommended to my newbie friends and others to be sure to use it because it is the new norm of a Disney visit. I figured there was follow up coming in the questions to come where I would be able to explain that I was not as pleased with the amount of work it took to book and plan and the cumbersome nature in which the app and site are set up to make attraction reservations. Those follow-ups never came.

I've said many times having to pick up fp's via the kiosks is not a good thing. If the had as many kiosks as they had fp machines, it would be fine. But in this day and age, they should be able to allow this to be done by personal device. They've said it's coming, so I'm trying to be patient.

What we do is check ride times by phone before selecting a fp+. That way we know if there was any reason to get one and which was the best to get at that moment. We've been burned because line waits fluctuate, but it's an educated guess at least.

Btw, if you have some strong opinions on the system, or anything regarding your trip, an email to guest services really does get read and quite often results in a return phone call if there were significant issues. At any rate, they are read at least and it gives you a chance to personally relay your experiences.

Thank you very much!

I think what you are saying is when you(or anyone in the future) are given the opportunity in the survey to comment further - to use that space to talk about FP+ since there will be no other opportunities! :thumbsup2

thanks for the heads up!

disrev...what was the nature of your grievance with the CM at ABC Commissary?

We had a CM at the register that was just so uncharacteristic of what we experienced anywhere else. Without going into detail, words like smug, harsh, short, and bossy would best describe our interaction with her as we ordered our food.
When we walked away with my food, I looked at my wife to mention something and she beat me to the punch... "That CM was just mean. That was very unDisney-like." she said. "I think we should mention something to someone."

In the survey, I was asked about CM interaction and was able to identify CM specifically by name, date and time we were there, and a more specific rundown of what happened.

Good for you!:thumbsup2 I'm glad you were able to let them know about that CM.

We were leaving Pizza Planet and were stopped and asked to rate our food experience. It was a quick survey and then she asked if she could email me a survey. The survey I was sent was more about HS than anything else. Never mentioned MB or FP+ that I recall. Where I was able to write a comment I continually wrote "need more rides in this park". I hope they got the message. I usually get a survey from ASMo which I didn't get this time only a email thanking me for staying there. I was disappointed as I was never asked my thoughts on FP+. I guess it is a done deal and they don't really care to find out how we feel.:confused3

Again, thanks for this report. So glad your family had a wonderful trip!! :goodvibes
