It looks like I'm going to have surgery to repair a ligament in my ankle. Unfortunately, the doctor told me this is going to involve 6 weeks in a cast up to my knee to limit the mobility in my ankle, so that I don't do any damage to the ligament. Any suggestions for how I might be able to still exercise. When I broke my 5th metatarcel (foot), I did a modified pilates routine. I currently do between and hour and an hour and twenty minutes of cardio with some light weight lifting. I just don't think I can go to doing absolutely nothing. I have also suffered from anorexia, which is why I have prolonged this surgery for so long. The thought of not being able to exercise makes me very anxious and also makes me feel like I could head back down a road I don't want to be on.

Sorry to hear about your surgery. I would definitely enlist my doctor's help on this one. If you have to be immobile then a removable cast with swimming probably won't work. Maybe you can go to a physical therapist to help you figure out a routine that would work for you. Even if you went every other week so they could fine tune it, I think that you would be ahead. Sending best wishes to you for a successful surgery and a speedy recovery! :flower3:

Sorry to hear about the surgery. I woudl do what the doctor says. More than likely you will be going to physical therapy. Talk to them.

I just had a bunion removed last Friday and it is a challenge to be on crutches. Good luck

While I realize I will be going to physical therapy, that won't begin until my cast is off (6 weeks). I NEED something I can do until then. Has anyone been in a similar situation? I need to find something to do while my cast is on and before my physical therapy starts.
