Post-show comments by cruise director

I agree with you about the house lights. Tradionally, Once the house lights come up, the show is over. The audience is free to gather their belongings, take small children by the hand and exit the theater.

Unsure how somebody leaving a theatre to go and do something else, after the main act is finished, but during an overly enthusiastic CD speaking about readily found information, is “rude” and against etiquette?

Because if the house lights are still down, the show is still considered to be going on. It is considered rude under theatre etiquette to get up and move around unless necessary, make noise, etc... That is why I pointed out the fact most people don't know theatre etiquette anymore, they don't know it's considered rude.

If I want to get going, in order to get back to the room and shower before dinner, or get to another activity, or just because I want a head start on some beers, who is anybody to stop me?

No one is going to stop you, at least on DCL.

Because, unless there is some kind of emergency, you shouldn't move while the house lights are down. It's disrespectful to everyone onstage and disruptive to those around you. Sadly, we have to drill this before every dance show we put on, and we still have entitled parents who think the rules don't apply to them.

Proper etiquette applies regardless of how you perceive the quality of the presentation.

I've never timed them, but I don't think the post-show comments last more than 2 or 3 minutes. They usually touch on the highlights of what is going on around the ship later that night (for those of us who read but do not memorize the Navigator) and relay information regarding all-ashore and all-aboard times for the next day. That info is available in the Navigator, too, but it is important to know.

Also, there are times when the CD has new information to convey, such as an updated weather forecast, chances of disruptions to the schedule, where to catch a free Disney shuttle into town, etc.

Maybe it is just me, but I would like to be able to see and hear the CD for those very few minutes without the distractions of a horde of noisy people fleeing the theater.
