Seems from the HS thread that there are a lot of fellow yearbookers out there ! I was on YB for 3 years in HS, and was editor of my Nursing school YB. What are your YB memories ?

Of course mine are all way pre-computer.....I was the layout queen....and a pretty good cropper with that orange grease pencil :)

anyone else go to Josten's yearbook camp each summer ?

Not on Yearbook, but I was on the student newspaper and we used the pica ruler for layout. At the time, software was just starting to be developed :)

I used to do typesetting for newspaper adds and had to use "picas" all the time. Used to work on this awesome typesetting machine that allowed me to change sizes, add text, surround text around pictures, etc. Everything was measured in picas. :D

I know how! And it was before the computer age too!

I was the editor of our yearbook, but we had one of the very first computer programs for doing layouts. It was back when a hard drive was optional on computers. I thought that program was so easy to use, but I'm sure today's software is infinitely easier.

I was Copy Editor senior year of hs... never went to the Josten's camp, but got to go to one at a university at the other end of the state... I still have memories of that week!

Still have all my pica rulers, too (and use them!). Think I even have one of the cropping "ruler" as well. We got an Apple (that wasn't good for much) that year, but only one person could use it, and we didn't do much of anything on it.

Yearbook was what made me decide to get a degree in journalism. I think I was the last class in college to learn "old-fashioned" layout (no computers).

I was in college (Public Relations major) just in the middle of the big switch to desktop publishing, and had to learn to do things both ways. I remember laying on my living room floor drawing out my layout, physically cropping pictures and such and then spending hours in the lab doing the computer portion. This was not an easy time. lol But I still have my pica ruler.
