Hi everyone!

We will be cruising again in Nov. 2025 on the Treasure! This time post-cruise we are looking at using a DVC rental site to book a Studio for one night. We would like a Studio over a regular room as we have a little one that is not quite old enough to share a Queen with their sibling but too big for a crib/pack and play so we were thinking the single pull down bed work well. It appears renting a Studio through the DVC rental sites would be cheaper than booking a 5th sleeper room though Disney directly but I'm not sure, I have never used sites like these. My question is which one would you choose? We are looking at Beach Club Villas, Boardwalk Villas, and Boulder Ridge Villas at Wilderness Lodge. We are not planning on going to the parks at all, just staying one night so we would like something to entertain the kids at the resort for the day. Our kids will be 5 and 3. Thanks for any help, we are also open to any other suggestions!

If you're renting DVC, you lose all flexibility so definitely insure that rental.

We loved WL for our post cruise stay, since we had the first seating for dinner, we were up EARLY for breakfast and were able to get a room when we got to the resort, which is why I would recommend a stay in a hotel room as the odds of getting in early to a hotel room are much higher. We were sooooooooo tired by the time we got to WL, we needed a place to just crash for 30 minutes. WL was nice and low key for the post cruise day, I feel like BC would be a zoo...

For kids wanting to play at the resort, it's hard to beat stormalong bay associated with the yacht club and beach club resorts. Plus there are things to walk to, still get a good view of the Epcot fireworks....

If you are concerned about the cost, Caribbean Beach and Port Orleans Riverside also have 5th sleepers. And you can book directly through Disney and have a cancellation policy, there may also be room discounts offered. Something to consider if you are not set on a deluxe for the one night.

For not needing to be close to a park, and kids that young -- have you looked at a family suite at AoA or All Star Music? I'm not sure how that compares to a DVC rental cost. But it would be changeable/refundable to fairly close to the trip as well, which DVC rental is generally a "final" transaction.

As much as I loved WL, that night was terrible because the kids are terrible bed sharers. We are 5th sleeper families until one of them can't fit in it anymore.

I absolutely agree with sponica. If you need one night post cruise, I would look into a 5th sleeper at CBR or POR because I think you would have a better shot at having your room ready early in the day.

We’ve rented DVC rooms on several occasions and they have an “after 4:00pm” ready time … you may luck out and get a room early in the day, but there is a good chance you’ll be homeless until 4:00pm.

If you decide to go with a DVC rental, I’d vote for Boulder Ridge because it’s a little oasis away from the parks and has a nice play area for kids and the DVC pool is zero entry. Plus good food options.

Boulder Ridge has 5th sleeper capacity.

I’d recommend Beach Club Villas because Stormalong Bay is the best pool/water park on property. And it is so easy to walk around the boardwalk area for restaurants and entertainment. You can watch the EPCOT fireworks from that area, too.

Car or no car? Any idea what you want to do for meals?

Even if DVC maintains a 4 pm room ready, could you do lunch and pool time until then?

Don’t forget that Resort hotels have free water park admission on check-in day in 2025. Drop your bags with the Bell Hop, play at the water park, and come back to your room tired. Look at which resort has the dining options that meet your family’s needs.

This offer may extend to DVC - but that’s another research project…

Yes, the free water park admissions on check-in day in 2025 does include guests at the DVC properties.

Will the DVC rental sites rent just one nights worth of points?
Have you gotten your answer?

I went to David’s Vacation Club Rentals site to see if there are restrictions on minimum number of nights (my timeshares had 3-night minimums). But I’m not seeing anything like that here.

It could be that DVC rooms are treated like hotel rooms for rental purposes.

The site let me put in one night for a request. I didn’t follow through to the end, as it was not an instant booking tool.

That said, it seems like an owner could sell just enough points to allow for a one-night stay.

I’m also wondering if the DVC forum threads might have answers / info about this.

“Renting points” is actually a misnomer. You’re actually renting a reservation booked with DVC points. And yes, many DVC owners will rent a one-night reservation.
Yes, many owners will. I was just thinking Davids had a 44 point minimum. I could be wrong though.

If you aren't doing parks I'm going to put a plug in for Animal Kingdom Lodge. That resort has by far the most activities at the resort. It is by far my favourite resort but especially for a resort only stay.

I would suggest a studio at Saratoga Springs Resort. Since you're not visiting the parks, you would be able to access one of their pools and/or take the boat ride over to Disney Springs to wander around, shop and eat wherever.
