Post all SW questions concerns, etc. here...

Interesting observations this morning…

It looks like if you can get a basic fare and need a preferred seat at booking you can upgrade with cash for approximately the same amount as upgrading the fare to choice (which only includes standard seats at booking). Also, if booking with points, upgrading from basic fare to choice seems to give pretty good value for the points (between 1.8 to 2.0 cents per point), but if you were trying to upgrade to choice extra the points values drop below 1 cent per point.
My preferred airport (BNA) however doesn’t even show any basic fares available for all the assigned seat flights released so far. Maybe everybody in Nashville bought them up super early this morning??
So I’ve been playing around with different routes and dates, and a few times I found the choice bookings to be several thousand points cheaper than the basic. Not sure if it’s a glitch?

Whoa basic fares for this schedule release are few and far between! Looks like basic is available BWI -> MCO on Feb 10
Yep, the new schedule is out, the Saturday in January we hoped to travel is $330 (in the cheap seats) from MCO to San Diego (pricing at $15/per 1000 points). Alaska is $220 for a refundable fare in the same seat. SW has no "Basic" fares available that flight, and there were only four seats taken total so it is simply the new Basic price that they are touting as the next level up. Will cancel my SW Chase Card since the points are no longer a justification (and the Early Bird no longer exists for future flights). Even with baggage fees, Alaska is a lot cheaper - both have nonstop flights ;)

I wonder how booking a Companion Pass will work now. Previously you completed the first reservation, then added the CP, but with reserved seating, will that change? I think most days chances are slim things will book up that quickly, but it's always possible.
I am my husband's companion and booked my ticket this morning exactly the same way as before. I was also able to select my preferred seat right next to his for no charge.

No idea, I thought the release dates included next, were what was to be expected going to just after Easter
I mean, my own personal Yikes is that this only covers the first half of our Spring Break travel, but that's what we get for having a district that gives the week after the holiday as the break. Not sure what other concern is here.

Yeah I really don't know either. It's normal for SWA to release these dates incrementally around that time period so that's why I asked. Is the yikes because it's in 2 weeks? Is it because they thought it should be for dates further out?

For reference last year the date is virtually the same for the April date of when the release brings it out to. August 14th 2025 release (presently) would bring dates to April 6th vs a August 1st 2024 release bringing the dates to April 7th 2025. And specific to OneWithTheTriplets we were in this same boat as you as our March 2025 start date of our vacation was covered by one release and then our April 2025 return date was covered by actually 2 releases after (original fly date was April 10th, 2025 so we had to wait 2 releases to get that).

Sorry if this has already been posted before.

It appears to select the seat for those with a priority card you have to be logged into that person's account to make the purchase.
I logged in with someone that didn't have the card and was having to pay the fees even though the card holder was listed on the reservation.
Logged out and logged in as card holder and all seats from preferred to the back of the plane were eligible to select and showed no prices and the ability to pay for row 1-6.

I'm not sure if they are able to do this over the phone. Hopefully it will work later online or now over the phone as the person that is not a card holder has transferable points that can be moved to book one leg.

Not calling to test as my dates haven't been released yet.

Was surprised that when I glanced at 530 this morning the fares were out. We do need a flight coming home from Orlando January 31. It was decent priced. $211 for choice, but for a 1 PM not horrible as those mid afternoon ones usually get more expensive. I just looked and it’s at 314 now. It’ll go back down, but just surprised how quickly it jumped.

I have the worst luck when it comes to booking flights (any airline). They always go down afterwards. And usually down a lot. I’ll book at around 200, then they’ll drop $50 or more. I know you can get credit, but i just wish i could guess right on if it’ll go down more or not. 211 is a little high but not horrible.

This is good to know since so many of us operate with points in more than one account. I'm sure there's going to be lots of little bugs like this as they work out their system.

With the dotted red line denoting the exit rows, does anyone know why not all the seats in row 14 and 15 are marked as extra leg room seat? (and also therefore priced as preferred?) The aircraft is shown as Boeing 737-700 (subject to change)

Pure guessing here but because it's a smaller aircraft (143 seats) it could be extra legroom seats are being retrofitted proportionate to the number of seats. Online their illustration is for a 737-800/MAX 8 both of which have 175 seats.

Row 14 does not have extra legroom even though the exit door is there. Dh and I like to sit on the left hand side in the so-called loveseat configuration bc it’s only 2 seats in the row (other SW planes have the loveseat on both sides). You can see how 15A has lots and lots of extra legroom, great for tall people even though they can’t use the tray table, ( Again, in other DW planes 15 F has the same empty seat in front of it.)
