Post all SW questions concerns, etc. here...

At least you had a seat available through Southwest. United changed my flight again, but instead of the route, they changed the aircraft. I went from a plane that had 20 first class seats to 12. SO and DS had seats changed but I was left assigned 5E which no longer exists lol
We flew United to Scotland. There were plane issue on the return flight, and we had to stay another night in Edinburgh. We were told that we would automatically get our same seats the following day. When I checked the app later, I saw that I was booked on a 7am flight, and my two minor children were booked on a 4pm flight. We were all on the same reservation. It took me hours on the phone, correcting this issue, and I’m pretty sure they kicked someone else out of their re-assigned first-class seat back to economy because she was very confused (and quite mad) when she checked her boarding pass after seeing us in her row, but the FA refused to move my kids or me. It was a complete cluster and made me hesitant to book United again.

Did you all 3 move to the 7am flight or did you move to the 4pm flight? My DISer friend had issues with United as well and I would avoid them unless I had no choice but I know Delta is also known for moving seats often.

No, I was moved to the 7am flight, and my two kids, who were both minors at the time, were moved to the 4pm flight, as well as not being seated together. I would have been annoyed had we all been moved to 7:00am but separately seated, but we would have made do. I wasn’t about to take off and leave my kids sitting in the Edinburgh airport! What if that flight was delayed or cancelled? I actually wrote to United after we were home and explained what had happened. I was surprised when they responded that never should have happened, and I was refunded the cost of all three of our return flights - way more than I expected to happen even though it didn’t make me confident in booking United again.

PP was asking about the resolution. Were you then moved to the 1600 flight or were your kids moved to the 0700 flight?

Ohh, sorry. Misread. My kids were moved to the 7am flight, and we were all seated in first (booked category), albeit separately. I imagine two people were quite unhappy that morning unless they checked their messages late at night, which is when I got this all resolved.

You’re flying this weekend? What type fare do you have? Be aware EBCI is assigned by the type of fare & when you bought it. So if you have WGA & add it now….you’ll be behind pretty much everyone else who has bought EBCI & quite possibly behind family boarding with a B boarding group anyway. Just in case you’re expecting an A group with EBCI.
It worked out just fine! I figured if we didn't get A group, I could do upgraded boarding for my sister. But we got A28/29. My sister actually got B16 checking in right at 24 hours. It will be interesting to see if the flight is even full.

We've had so many problems with United recently. We waited 9 hours in the Newark airport last year for a flight to Dublin that eventually got cancelled. We were rebooked on a flight the following night in worse seats. We ended up getting refunded for the whole thing and switching to JetBlue Mint for the flight out. We loved it so much that we splurged for Mint on the way home too. Now DH is obsessed with business class for international travel.
I hope if SW and JB merge that SW doesn't ruin JB.....but at least it isn't United.

I hadn’t heard those. I hope not. We fly SW a lot, but I actually prefer JB. They’re also the only 2 airlines that fly nonstops from my city to Orlando. It’s nice to have a choice depending on flight times.
I love JB, but they tried flying out of my airport for a while before giving up. It was the year I hardly traveled by plane, due to my son's cancer. So that was a bummer.
We have only Southwest and Spirit for nonstops to MCO.
Then both of the above, plus Delta, to LA.

For now, I'm not too upset with the SW changes, since I have credit card benefits. It will be nice to book seats for myself and my kids ahead of time, instead of relying on family boarding. But, we'll see what the pricing does.

Same! I hate the open seating, it’s so stressful for me. So I’m looking forward to assigned seats too. Too bad JB didn’t do well in your city. We have credit cards for both airlines, I’m really thankful we have nonstop options.
