That looks like a really nice campsite, I live close by and never thought of going there, thanks for the pics.

Lorna and Anole.... I posted Hillsborough on post 243. It is a wonderful place to go. I've been going there since I was about 1 year old.

Frank, It's early and I'm operating on 7 cylinders this morning, but you stumped me about the fence.

The only thing I can think of is your wondering why the fence. If I'm right, the reason is that those sites are resticted to people staying there. I guess they felt that if you're in there, you want some privacy. If it was open to everyone, it would be the same as all the other sections, wall to wall people.

In regards to the Fences, it is usually where the drivers families, and as they put it important people stay. I keeps the general crowd away from them and gives them some sort of privacy.

Very nice shade. I was supposed to have a site there for some friends a couple weeks ago and they messed my reservation up and I had to drive south to Ocean Grove. I really like sites with shade especially in the summer. How was the rest of the facilities and did you try the on site restaurant?

Donnie - The facilities are pretty good. We did eat at one of the restaurants and it was great! I have lots of detailed pictures of the campground to share so I'm going to open a new thread for this CG soon.

This one ranks right up there with the Fort. Open, spacious campground, some sites with hot tubs, and swimming in the lake was even more comfortable than swimming in the pool. They have paths for golf carts along with bikes and pedestrians. Bathhouse was the best we've ever seen; even better than the Fort.

Yep, it's no Disneyworld but for a four day trip during the summer, this was one of our favorites. :thumbsup2

We have that campground bookmarked and definitely want to stay there. It looks very nice and clean. Thanks for sharing.

great pics,, looks like a really nice CG.
Any fish ?

Tons

The lake used to be a coquina rock quarry. It's about 1.25 miles around but gets to a depth of about 35'-40'. There's a sign showing all the fish in the lake. I remember largemouths, bluegill, three different types of catfish, crappie, eel, pickerel (never heard of these), and some carp. There's probably other types but I can't recall.

In the swimming area, the small bluegill get so close you can almost grab them. They're quite used to the people. Fishing is allowed but you can't keep them. They even rent boats. The biggest caught there so far is a 12lb. largmouth. Check out this pic from the website.

Unfortunately, the turtles are getting quite populated as well.
