Possibly strange questions

All of these came up in planning our upcoming trip to DLR.

1. How many people fit in one tea cup at the Mad Tea Party? Although this ride is billed as suitable for all ages, DH, says it is too crazy for our son, because teenager will get on and make it turn too fast. I guess my question really is, can we ask that we keep a teacup to ourselves? DS has sat in a spinning cup at that other place with a mouse (a much uglier mouse), ChuckE Cheese, so I think if we can sit by ourselves or with other people who don't want a crazy ride, we should be OK.

2. Is there a veggie version of a Monte Cristo sandwich available at Blue Bayou? I don't know if I read that somewhere, or if I dreamt it.

3. Where on the Disney train route are the dinosaurs? I know they are supposed to be in the Grand Canyon, but I haven't figured out where that is.

4. What animals are at the Big Thunder Ranch? Is it strictly like a petting zoo, or can you see more traditional farm animals?

-A very puzzled Mommy

Unless you're on a ride that has single rider (coasters mostly), you always ride with only your own group. Tea Party is appropriate even for little babies and pregnant mommies.

There is a cheese version without the meat, but I don't think it has veggies. Look at the menu for Blue Bayou.

They're between Tomorrowland and Main Street

They have goats mostly. But in that same area they often have a festival set up with character meet and greets.

1) If your son is over the age of 7, he can ride in a tea cup alone.

2) Blue Bayou has a three cheese Monte Cristo. It is only available during lunch.

3) Like PP mentioned...between the TL and MS Train Stations.

4) Mostly goats.

I've seen the three cheese Monte Cristo on the menu at Cafe Orleans, but not on the BB lunch menu.

We love going in Big Thunder Ranch to see the animals, escape crowds and it is a nice shaded place with some benches if it is a hot day.

The horses are from main street and they are brought over to the ranch one at a time on their "days off". A CM brings one out and is there next to the horse to answer questions and monitor while guests take turns petting the horse. I don't know the schedule but they are beautiful horses. Last week we met Reggie and the trip before Brother.

We also met Farley the fiddle player a few weeks ago. He was awesome! He sang songs and told jokes with the kids and passed out stickers. I don't know his schedule either but my kids loved it.

I ride in my own teacup when I'm brave enough to ride. No way would I get in a teacup with my crazy spinning DD and DH. I'd be sick the rest of the day!

You can send your teen off to a cup by himself to spin away.

As for animals, the walk in pens have goats and sheep. The other 2 pens that you walk around usually have a horse (they are the horses from Main St and rotate in on their days off), donkey, and a cow, Clarabelle (they rotate.)

Thank you all very much! I think we will be riding in the tea cups in place of Peter Pan. As fun as PP sounds, DS won't know what he is missing since it is indoors, and he will see the cups. At least for our first day. DS is not quite 2, so he will Not be going solo. And I will definitely check out the Cafe Orleans menu.

Why are you skipping Peter Pan for the tea cups? You can do both if you want. The tea cups rarely have a line.

DH, says it is too crazy for our son, because teenager will get on and make it turn too fast.

Oh, I see what you're asking now. If others get in your teacup. No, not unless they are confused.
The Cast Members ask how many are in your party, you answer, and they know how many parties there are. They match that number to the number of cups. So when they open the gate, everyone in the last holding area goes and gets their teacups.

He might not see them, you can hurry him by if you don't want him to go on them. Because of the turning, I would not let my son on until he was 3 or 4. I do not believe that that sort of force is good for a little one's spine (former chiropractor here).

Peter Pan is fabulous. I would never pass that up, especially not for the teacups.

If Peter Pan is open, ride it, no matter the line. It is a historic ride and if it open (after July 1), it's just been enhanced. I love the ride.

Tea Cups, one of the best spinning rides, even if you do not spin your cup.

I know Peter Pan is historic, and there are lines because it is fabulous, but I think saving it for our second day in the park will work better. I don't want our little one's first experience at the park to be one of the longest lines.

Okay! Definitely understand that. If you have a MM or go at opening the best thing to do is to try to be on Peter Pan right away, if not I also skip it for later. When we took our daughter for the first time her first ride was actually The Jungle Cruise. We didn't head straight to Fantasyland because we had a MM for the next day. We rode Pirates and Haunted Mansion after the Cruise and then I think we went down to the Pooh ride, though I'm not 100% sure as it was 4 years ago. It was a fun morning.

My daughter LOVES the Astro Orbiter in Tomorrowland, also something you CAN'T avoid seeing. She often asks to ride it as we enter the park because it's right there. Your son will probably enjoy Buzz Lightyear too, especially if he's seen the movies. My son just turned 2 and he's been to Disneyland a few times. His favorite is probably Mater's. It is on a spin table like the teacups, but instead of a spinning "in place" as the teacups do it swings you from side to side as the large table spins. It's fun, and the three of you could ride together making for less flying from side to side. He's a huge train fan and really wants to ride Casey Junior. I've shown him a You Tube video, on request, many times of Casey Junior. It's also outside at Fantasyland, as are Dumbo and the Carousel, so it's hard to miss.

I remember these days... 1st rides... I don't think I would do tea cups first... Dumbo, Casey Jr, Storybook boats, then tea cups... Small world to introduce an indoor "dark ride". Spend time in toontown... Have him step on, push, pull just about everything... It's mostly interactive. If you have hoppers, I would maybe hop over and do bugs land on the 1st day too... Then if all is good, start on the dark rides on day 2.

As others have said, they won't put strangers in a cup or other ride mobile with you. Other than the fun wheel... We have had people added to our group there... Or boats where lots of people fit anyway. So you don't need to worry :)

Oh, I thought you had a teen that you didn't want to ride with! They won't put anyone else on a teacup with your family unless they ask and you agree. We've had them ask a few times if another child could ride with one of us us, because their parents did not want to ride and the child was too young to go alone, or when a family was too big to fit in one teacup. They would never just put a teen in your cup. At age 2, Peter Pan was my daughter's absolute favorite ride in all of WDW( didn't take her to DL at that age) I wouldn't skip that one. It is magical for a preschooler! When you say another day, are you talking soon, or when he is older? If you are planning to go a bunch it would be no big deal to skip PP the first time. I agree Small World is the best dark ride to start a toddler out on.

My advice - don't over think things or plan too strictly! You may find yourself disappointed. If your son is one who doesn't scare easily you will be perfectly fine in Fantasyland. Maybe avoid Mr. Toad and Snow White at first but Peter Pan and the Tea Cups won't be a problem. Relax and have fun!

Calilou, I am not a minute-by-minute planner, but I do try to have a list of things to do and a target direction, so that we feel that we get most of our money's worth at the end of the day. I also try to figure out what is near what, so that we don't ping pong across the parks and only see half of what we could if only I had thought things through. I know that once DS sees certain things, we will have to do them on his schedule, and I am also planning for only a half day the first day, so that we leave time for food and a nap. In other words, I am looking at the touring plans out there, figuring out which one works best for us, and once we are in the park, being ready to throw the thing out.
