Hi,
I just got back from the 3/30 Wonder that I went on with my sister and daughter and we had a wonderful time - I want to rebook a trip for my hubby and two girls (6 and 3) (and myself of course!) - I have been checking prices at allseastravel.com - but here's my weird question - I know you have to have a down payment of $200 per person - would it be possible to book a room that could fit 4 people, but just book myself and my husband for right now - then later add the two girls on (when money was more available) - I would love to not go into debt for this - I'm not sure my question is clear........I guess what I'm trying to say is coming up with $400 right now is a bit easier than $800...I know that everything must be paid for by 60 days before trip and that wouldn't be a problem, but I would like to lock in plans now - We aren't too picky about the dates - the cheapest dates are the most appealing ones as far as I'm concerned - I don't have a problem taking my kids out of school -

Hope that makes sense and I don't seem dorky for asking - We are a 1 income family (I'm a stay at home mom) and the "extras" like this would be paid for by my ebay auctions! :earsgirl:

Thanks in advance!
Carol

That's what I did, since I booked the week before Christmas. I initially booked a stateroom for just my DH and me and added my DD about six weeks later. Just make sure you do not wait too long to add your children. If you are receiving early booking savings, the cost to add them could go up as time goes on.

I think that would work as long as you don't wait too long.

There was a thread about something like this and the ship had hit capacity (I think it was based on age group - but don't remember exactly).

As long as you left yourself plenty of time I think it would be a great idea.

Makes sense to me! Also make sure that the room you're booked in sleeps 4.

Be careful about waiting too long. The ship does indeed have capacities for children by age group. This insures that every child is able to use the lab if they want to without going over the OCCS limitations on councilors vs. children ratio. Also if you need a cabin for four but only book a cabin for two you may end up with one that only sleeps three. They do not give the four person cabins up to families that don't need them (unless of course if you book a cat. 4 or higher which all sleep at least four) Those cabins are reserved for larger families that need that amount of room. A great deal of the cat. 5's and below only sleep three. You could end up with cabin that will not fit your children.

You could have saved even more if you would have rebooked while on board. BUT if you are like some of us we just don't have the cash or credit avaiable to rebook while on board. I WISH dcl would bring back the 120 day window. That is what we had on our first cruise and we did rebook about a month and a half later. We have 6 in our family and always need 2 rooms. Deposits just kill us. That little extra room credit the dcl gives is really nice and helps out.

We just reserved a room for my inlaws and put the deposit down for them. We made sure the room would sleep three just in case my sil came along. We just couldn't afford paying her deposit at this time. I figure if she doesn't get her deposit paid soon she will miss out. We are on a spring break cruise 2004 and those fill up fast.

Good luck.

Hey Ann,I'm confused about the comment on not giving the four person cabins up to families that don't need them. Is this a new policy?

I know last time we cruised my parents booked the cabin adjoining ours (Cat. 6 - sleeps 4). When we booked we simply asked for the specific cabin number and asked for our reservations to be linked so we were seated together. Would that make a difference? I know that stateroom sleeps because we will be in it in June. "Our" room was already booked by someone else! LOL!!!

If you rquest a specific cabin number you should be ok.. however I was told to be fair they give families of three three person cabins and families of four the choice of 4's. There is no difference in cabin size as the extra bed comes from the ceiling and it would be quite unfair to give it to me (a family of three) when a family of four would realy need it. My best to you...:bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:   :smooth:     :bounce: :smooth: :smooth: :smooth: :smooth: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:
The bounces etc.. are from my son that thinks it is SOOOO cool to click on them

Ok, that makes sense. Tell your son I love the bounces. I just try not to overuse them! :p

But in his case I'll make an exception! :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce:

I think the deposit is $200 per person for the 3 and 4 night cruises, and $250 per person for the 7 night cruises.

If you want to try the idea of just paying for two then try booking one adult and one child in the room instead of two adults. That might work better if it is true about child booking capacities.

Call All Seasons Travel - I would almost guarantee they would accomodate all your needs!!!!

It might get confusing with booking 1 adult & 1 child since the 2nd person has to pay an adult rate. You could end up paying for 3 adults & 1 child. I also would recommend calling a TA to find out what they recommend.

If you book a specific room # that is a quad, you should be OK, as long as you add the kids before the 60 day cancellation window.

It could effect your dining though. If you have main, adding 2 could boot you back to late. With little ones, that may be important to you.

I think Dave from Marietta's site - dcltribute has some info on which rooms are what- 3's or 4's. I know he lists obstructed views, etc...

Ask DCL, it wouldn't hurt.
