Possibly canceling/rescheduling a room-only within 5 days?

Hi all,

We check in to the Poly on Friday. We've had a virus going around the family, and while I expect everyone to be well by Friday, I'm a bit concerned that the 2 family members who did not catch it may fall ill before then.

We have absolute flexibility with our dates as we are in Fl and this is just a weekend trip.

Is it possible to reschedule? What is the latest that I can reschedule? Are there fees? It definitely wouldn't be a total cancellation, as we'd likely go next weekend.

Hopefully we'll all be healthy on Friday morning, but in case we're not, I want to be prepared.

As long as it is a reschedule, there should be no fees. My mom rescheduled a trip from December to the following May one year (coincidentally at the Poly too) and incurred no penalty. This was two or three years ago though.

Definitely give them a call, but I'm pretty sure that as long as you make a new reservation (that you can change later) there is no fee--they just reapply your deposit. We had to cancel less than 24 hrs a few years ago due to a storm, and they were amazing about it! So helpful and flexible! Give them a call, but again, as long as you basically rebook it (and can alter it later) I don't think you will have any fees charged. If you cancel outright, I think you lose your deposit--but even that's with a really short time--think less than 5 or 7 days. Good luck!

As the pp said, usually no change fees are charged for rescheduling, although I'm not sure how close to check in you can do that. With that said, there might be a $15 fee charged for changing dates. Disney instituted this fee a year or so ago for any changes made 14 days or less from arrival (regardless of whether or not it changes the cost of the reservation). I would call Disney and see what can be done. Good luck and I hope everyone feels well enough to take the trip .

When I booked our room only last trip I asked the CM what happens if the kids get sick or something and we have to postpone. He said as long as we are rescheduling there would be no fees. He said we'd only lose our deposit if we cancel completely with less than 5 days.

The bad news: the other two came down with the virus. Definitely no way we'll make it tomorrow. We're all a coughing, miserable mess.

I called to change the reservation to next weekend and it was VERY easy. Way easier than booking a dining reservation by phone! There were no fees to change the reservation.

The good news is that next weekend ended up being cheaper! We had a Florida resident discount and I checked online and was SURE it was going to be $100 more, but it ended up being $60 cheaper. Yay! That means I got 2 nights at the Poly for a song!
