Hi all!!

possible trip late May/early June (take advantage of Memorial Day off work). plan on visiting the park for 4 days and driving from Sacramento.

our last trip was last April for DD4th Bday, its gonna be me, the wife, dd4 and dd2. we stayed at the Ramada Plaza which we thought was fine, but the walk to and from the hotel was hard on the feet, not to mention it took away from valuable park time (about a 12-15 minute walk).

possible places we're looking at:
BWPPI,Ramada Maingate (hope those 50% codes come up), PVI

what we missed the last trip: WOC, Fantasmic

what we hope to catch this trip: WOC, Fantasmic, Star Tours 2, Ariel ride.

our dates are somewhat flexible (could be any first two weeks of the month due to work), but we figured that the first few weeks of July,Aug will be crowded and weather would be warmer and our DD will Start kindergarten in Sept :sad1: time sure flies by

we wanted some feedback as far as choosing the May 29-June 4th dates, is the park generally packed these days (i know the wildcard is the Ariel and Star Tours opening). i peeked at the convention center schedule and there did not seem to be any big conventions going on that week. the other wild card is that May 30th is Memorial Day but the majority of the days are after the holiday weekend.

it would also be good if we missed any traffic going from Sacramento and back. last april we left around noon on Friday and didnt hit traffic until we got to LA. on the way back was bad though, we left Disneyland are on a Wednesday around 10am and hit all sorts of traffic.
would it be better to do May 31st-June3rd??

all feedback welcome :)

I don't know that you'll find discounts on the holiday weekend. Maybe a stay 3 get 1 though.

Ramada is having some pool construction and making a kids splash play area so might want to look at them harder. I do mean the maingate one.

i will check with Ramada maingate to see when they expect the pool to reopen, thanks!

one thing i forgot to mention is that we also would like to catch fireworks on one of the nights. does anyone know when disneyland does fireworks daily instead of only weekends?

i priced out the Ramada maingate vs PVI

Ramada came out to avg $95 + tax
PVI $115 + tax

from reading the threads, both are pretty close to the gates, the main selling point of PVI is that they have better breakfast and a happy hour with finger foods.

both have pretty good reviews overall on tripadvisor. am i missing anything else???

beginning of June should be pool weather in Anaheim right??

and does anyone know what "graduation days" are??:confused3

WOW, thanks for the heads up.

looks like the renovated pool area will be completed by June (hoping), the biggie is the construction and the noise that comes with it.

when were you planning on traveling wanasseepooh??

I was looking at a trip the first week of June and the concern we had was: when do they start closing the park early at night for Grad Nights?

grad night starts from mid may -mid june i believe. if you plan on going the first week, its on thursdays. so June 2 that week.

The links were broken, but i googled it and looks like 28/29th of may is a blackout date. how would this affect the crowd since its also mem. day weekend??

looks like your family will be going around that time, do you mind if i ask where you are staying??

Grad Nights & Annual Pass Holder schedule

Here's some information you may want to look at for your upcoming trip, since you wanted to know when it was happening. I also threw in the AP blockout dates for your info, since this will also affect the crowd issues.

Hope this helps!

Thanks for the link (although broken, I was able to find the info from it!).

Grad Nites are May 12, 19 and 26 (Thursdays) and then June 2 (Th), 8 (W), 9 (Th) and 16 (Th).

Hi 07pilot4me, sorry about that, don't know what happened? Anyway, I would think that it would lessen the crowd level on one hand, but then again, it is a holiday weeekend...I dont' think that all the AP groups are blacked out though, although the premium holders may be able to, there are different levels of holders, and their dates are different.

Honestly, I'm not sure yet! :confused3 We have considered Fairfield Inn again, which is within walking distance and usually reasonably priced, nothing fancy, but clean and friendly and has a McD's in front of it. Although this time, I'd LOVE to stay onsite! If we can get a good enough rate, maybe! ;) We've stayed at the Paradise Pier, but I would love to try the DL hotel or the GC! Which ones are you considering?

made ressies for the ramada maingate may29th-June3rd.
(still flexible if a better rate comes along, i got a rate avg of $95 +tax)

still waiting to see if a 3 for 5 deal comes along for parkhoppers, debating wether or not to get AP's this time aroound. and also debating wether or not to drive down May28th from Sacramento and just get a priceline room that night.
