Possible to use points at Disneyland Hotel?

Is it possible to use points at the Disneyland Hotel? I would like to visit at the end of June and there is no availability at the Grand Californian. Don't know what my chances are if I waitlist the entire visit. Is there any place to book it on the member website?

Yes. But once you book the hotel using your points, don't look back. You cannot cancel that hotel reservation and then use those same points on a DVC stay; the points change, and those points are only usable for things like the other Disneyland hotel stays, a cruise, that sort of thing. So if you're going to waitlist, do that. If you're going to book the hotel stay, do that and don't wait list.

Plus the points for usage there are a lot.....Not a good use of points imho

We stayed at Disneyland Hotel because I could not get in June with my 7mo restriction. But my week in June was graduation. End of June, I think you should have a shot at it.

Honestly the decorations in DLH was very nicely done. We know the architects who did them. But 2014 Summer we will stay at Paradise Pier. It's cheaper and much closer to the hot spots. DLH was very convenient when we watched the movies at AMC. But for the money savings, I'm going with Paradise.

We will also be going at the end of June. Thanks for your info on the point use. I didn't know all the facts about point usage there. I've been a DVC member for 18 years but we've only used it at DVC resorts (and once on the cruise in the early days, when it was fairly cheap to do so!)

Not if you purchased resale on or after 3/21/2011.

We thought about using points for the DLH, but decided we needed them for a future DVC trip and just spent cash instead. I've heard if you book through DVC you get free parking (at least someone in another thread said that.) but since we used cash we had to pay. I know when we were looking in Oct for the first week in December at DLH or PP, there was availability, so I don't think the rooms using points go that fast vs the actual DVC units at VGC.

We liked DLH a lot. Personally, I think it has the nicest pool of the 3 resorts. The water slides were a huge hit with DD.
