My DH and I just started WW on Sun (online, we love it) DH gave me a trip to WDW to celebrate our one year anniversary...we were married at WDW...we'll be there for a long weekend...is it ok to go off the plan for those days, or should we be trying to stick to it?

I'm not on WW, so I won't even attempt to address that!

Just wanted to say that when I go on vacation (esp to WDW or DL), I know I walk a minimum of twice as much as I do in a normal day, but usually it's more like three times as much (sometimes even four), so I allow myself a little more leeway in terms of food.

I think even if you decide not to be strict about sticking to your points that you should count points for whatever it is you eat anyway, just to give yourself an idea?

But, there are so many dining options at WDW that I'd bet you'd be able to stick to the plan without many problems. I've heard that most WDW restaurants are pretty accommodating with substitutions and such when asked too.

Just remember portion control. You don't necessarily need to count your points, but instead of you each getting your own treat, get one to split. Drink water instead of soda. Small changes like that. You'll be fine.

Remember, it's a change for life, and if you can't have your favorite snacks at Disney World, that's no kind of lifelong plan! :) Have your treats, and just get back into point-counting mode when you get back.

I've gone twice, and I'm in the minority when I say that I've gained while at Disney World. Most people lose when they're there.

Have a fantastic time!

Thanks! DH says the points are out the window for that weekend ... we walk so much when we are there and we are pretty good with portion control... I will try to keep track of our points anyway;)

Enjoy your time at WDW!!!!!!

I think that you guys can share some meals and have a few treats and still walk enough to stay "On Program"!!! :) You can alway substitute carrots for fries at the counter service restaraunts!

Have a great time at Disney!!! :)

Karen, are you serious?!?!?! I didn't know that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That would have made life SO much easier last trip!!!

Dan, you're not the only one who gained on vacation. I gained 1.6 lbs. after a week at Disneyland.

I think you could try to be careful but still enjoy yourself. I shared meals a lot with my daughter so even when I was having a hamburger I only had half. But like others have said, this has to work within your life. If you end up feeling deprived you won't be able to stick with it. If you do gain a little bit, so what? You'll just lose it when you get home. Its not like you go to WDW every day!

Have a great time!!!

Hi,
We have some healthier option meals, plus some that are our favorites planned for WDW. I have gone back and forth worrying about whether I should stay On Program in WDW. I have to keep reminding myself that this is something I plan to do for life. I can easily watch what I eat on shorter weekend trips to places like Boston and Vegas, but when I go to Disney World for our big vacation, I want to enjoy it.

I will be eating what I want in WDW, but still bringing my cereal for breakfast, and trying to choose some healthier options to balance out the times that I don't!

Good luck,
It can definately be done........but you will need to do some planning ahead. Check out www.wdwig.com to check out the menus.
