Possible Test Track overhaul in 2012!

I'm all for ride improvement but, I think the ride itself is fine how it is. Maybe put in better vehicles with less downtime.

The queue, I HATE. I don't like standing in there for more than 5 minutes. It's annoying and noisy. :scared1: I still remember in 2000 standing in that queue for over an hour and wanting to shoot myself.

I completely agree. I love this ride. But I hate waiting in the queue for it. Hate it! lol

Thank you.

Actually, technically, they repaid TARP by taking out a different government loan -- and then claimed to have paid back the government.

My original point stands, in any case. This is not a company that should feel its cash on hand is burning a hole in its corporate pockets, since they have pretty much negative dollars once you remove U.S. taxpayer contributions...

A theme park ride sponsorship is something of a luxury in terms of ad/PR dollars, and I'm not convinced this is a luxury GM can continue to afford. But then again, they're not exactly known for their corporate wisdom.

perhaps before they dump millions into test track they could pay back bondholders the money they stole from them?
(or rather the government allowed them to steal from them)

Pay us back? Not for a project in Epcot... 'cause anyone who thinks we'll ever see that money again is definitely in Fantasyland! ;)

Not to take this off mesage but while they could update TT is there any reason not to re-do the Tomorrowland Speedway. I mean that was outdated at least 20 years ago.

Update? Replace it!

Agreed. It was a five minute wait (walk-on) when i was there so we did it once. It's just not worth it. It smells awful and it pollutes pretty badly. Not to mention it's just plain boring.

Agreed. This needs to be replaced badly.

Not sure it's gonna happen. The Speedway just had some of its track redone when they tightened the final turn to make room for the new double-dumbo queue building.

Also, it does appear to get a rather long line during busier times of year.

I think it still does a good job of drawing crowds when the younger kids show up in force. I know I used to love it when I was younger because I enjoyed getting a chance to drive. Now that I can drive a much larger car with a lot more power and without the annoying center track, it's kind of dull/stupid... but I wouldn't want to underestimate the interest it still maintains with the younger kids.

In it's current form the speedway in no way shape or form fits in TL. However if altered slightly it can.

I would retheme it as The Highway to Tomorrowland and would happen with a basic theme change of TL.

First TL will be reformed as TL City. The open area where you can see the Contemporary will be completely blocked off by a forced perspective futuristic Cityscape.

The speed way will be the main way to travel to the City of Tomorrow. I would upgrade the foliage and place mike markers and billboards. The billboards would be for various futuristic products and TL artractions.

The cars would be replaced with new ones that have speakers and screens. There would be sensors through out the ride that trigger the speakers.

The audio would say some of the following.

"Welcome to Tomorrowland the city of the future. While in Tomorrowland visit our space ports on top of Space Mountain and blast off to the far reaches of the galaxy"

"While in Tomorrowland get around using our one of a kind public transportation system the Tomorrowland Transit Authority People Mover.

"Have your travels peaked your hunger but you are too eager to start your fun? Well head over to Cosimic Rays for dinner and a show. Witness a mealtime performance by the one and only Sunny Eclipse.

I think something little like this would go a long way.
