Disney NEVER closes for weather unless of course, hurricanes are imminent in the forecast. Otherwise, I am pretty sure that events happen rain or shine.
We attended MVMCP two years ago in the POURING rain! DH and I had a great time, we wore our ponchos and rode all the rides, practically alone. On our way out of the park, a CM met us and handed us a little square business card. There was an address on it, she told us to send our ticket stubs and a quick note that we were at the party in the pouring rain to the address on the card. We did, and about 3 weeks later, two complimentary one-day park hoppers arrived in the mail! It was a total surprise...I know many people were demanding refunds and such, but we wouldn't have done that, we had a great time and definitely got our money's worth. It was just a bit of Magic sent our way
We must have been the same night as NHDisneyKid. None of the parades were done and most of the shows were also cancelled. They still had the fireworks show, which was great. We only stayed for about 2 hours and went back to WL for hot cocoa and to warm up by the fire. I came home and read that they were refunding people's money for that night. I never expected that since it says on the tickets that there are no rainchecks. I called and the lady asked if I wanted my money back or complimentary one-day tickets. I received the tickets within a few weeks. That is definitely Disney Magic!!! We are getting ready to use those tickets in 15 days when we leave for WDW for another Christmas at Disney!!!!
I think I have only heard of a few MVMCP that were really impacted by rain The one a few years ago was the worst and Disney did not refunds etc. However, if the shows and parades can go on so does the party!
PHOTO-COPY YOUR TICKETS!! Our family was at the MVMCP THE YEAR THAT IT poured all night and with the 2 little ones we had to leave!!As it was no refunds we didn't do anything until we came home and everybody said that they went to guest services and got THEIR MONEY BACK!! As there were 6 of us I told my DDIL that I had photo-copied the tixs and to try and get a refund. They did give us the money back..If it is raining a little it will not be too bad but if it is pouring(cancelled the parade etc) they will refund the money..GO TO GUEST SERVICES AT THE FRONT OF THE PARK WITH YOUR PHOTO COPIES..Good luck and I'm sure it will be fine..Have a great time it is truly MAGICAL AND YOU WILL LOVE IT..Marianne
