possible e-coli sickness???

E-coli in children can be extremely dangerous.. If his condition worsens, please take him to the ER.. Don't wait until Monday for the results..

I know you said you cleaned the bathroom, but have you cleaned everything else he may have touched?

I had a nasty, nasty stomach/intestinal bug myself last week - literally had to spend a few days in bed - which is pretty much unheard of for me.. Lots of severe nausea; severe cramping; diarrhea; etc.. Don't know where I could have picked it up because I hadn't been anywhere recently, but it sure threw me for a loop!

Hopefully it's just a bug and the little guy will feel better sooner..

My house will get a good cleaning today. He pretty much just layed on the couch so hopefully his "germs" are in that area and not everywhere

Thanks for your good thoughts.

My son had very similar symptoms (including the blood). The culture came back as Campylobacter jejuni which is one of the most common bacterial causes of diarrheal illness in the United States. Here's some info about it and the symptoms: http://www.fsis.usda.gov/factsheets/Campylobacter_Questions_and_Answers/index.asp

These symptoms are similar except my son did not have a fever. I've been trying not to look too much online because his symptoms fit into many different types of illnesses.

I know my son was up again during the night but I'm hoping he is doing better today.

UPDATE: the doctor just called and my son does have e-coli. Luckily he seems to be feeling much better today though.

I am glad he is feeling better. Can you pinpoint the source of the ecoli?

Thanks for the update.

Thanks.

No we cannot pinpoint it. Dr. feels it was either food or possibly from another person. I don't think we'll find out where he got it from unfortunately.

Still no stomach pains as of now.:cool1:

I had it more than 10 years ago and I will never forget it.

I vomited about 26 times in 24 hours. Lots of diahrrea. It was terrible. I got it from the public water supply. It was a big emergency and we were told to boil water but of course I had some the day before. I went to the hospital for them to diagnose me. They were so overrun they kept me for a few hours in the ER and then sent me home, no beds to put me in.

The symptoms were over in 2 days but what a terrible thing to go through.

If your son continues I would take him to the hospital. It's going to be tough if he keeps vomiting but keep him hydrated. That can cause as many probablems as the reason he is sick in the first place.

My heart goes out to you and your son! I hope he will be better soon. Poor thing!

How is your DS today? Hopefully feeling much better! :goodvibes

My son had e-coli the Christmas he turned 16. Traced it back to a burger at our local Bennigan's. He was in the hospital for 7 days because they were afraid his kidney's were going to stop functioning properly.

The amount of pain and sickness my son went through was almost unbearable. I hope your son is over this quickly.

He continues to improve - thanks so much for asking. He has his appetite back and is bored - two good signs. We are still waiting for additional test results that should come in today. Until then the dr. still wants him home resting.
